I saw the headline on MSN, but didn't catch any other details before I had to start working. From the photo I saw, I'm guessing it overshot the runway?

I was watching CNN when they broke in and announced it and was able to see that people were getting off safely. Amazing piloting to land it on the water without cracking it up. He needs to be commended for his fantastic skills.

As pilots like to say - "Hours of boredom interrupted by moments of sheer terror." When it goes bad, sometimes it starts slow (not in this case) but when it starts downhill it usually does frighteningly fast. Kudos to the pilots - they surely earned their money on this one.

The flying public would be absolutely frightened to know what has happened in the airline industry over the last 5-8 years. This pilot had loads of experience, but you would be shocked to know how low the hiring requirements for new pilots have fallen - especially at the commuter airlines. They were lucky to have this pilot at the controls.

I never liked going in and out of La Guardia.

One bada$$ pilot for sure. He saved those peoples' lives.

I agree about LaGuardia...that place is a wind tunnel.

Re: US AIRWAYS FLIGHT DOWN IN NYC - Hudson River

Seeing this story put me in a good mood all day yesterday.

There could be 150+ families planning funerals right now.

Instead, some people got cold and wet, some bumps and bruises, and a plane was ruined.

Compared to the worst-case scenario, this turned out about as well as it could have.

Kudos to the pilots and flight crew.
