My Annual Fall Lake Superior Camping Trip
I am fascinated with Lake Superior. I mean REALLY, REALLY Fascinated. My buddies & I take three trips a year & we have one coming up on the first weekend of October. We hang out on the beach, drink beer, smoke cigars, & camp 10 feet from the water, under the stars. Here are some pictures from our last fall trip in September '05. Couldn't go last year due to Lil' Fishy being a newborn. Actually we went in November & camped on 6 inches of snow. The last two are from Crisp Point Lighthouse...we actually got to go up into the dome...I can't wait to go

That's awesome man! I love camping and we're finally going again in a few weeks. It's nothing real rough, it's a campground near Gettysburg and there's probably even water and electric on the tent sites...but I'll have beer, cigars and campfires so it works for me That lake looks beautiful.

Bringing back memories....

Grew up in Midland, MI. Every and I mean EVERY Memorial day weekend dad and I (and some friends) would go up to Copper Harbor (way up top) for pike and walleye fishing.

Last time was probably 1984.

I would be in, but it would be one hell of a haul for most of you guys. It is about a 7 hour drive from here & there really isn't any major airport to fly into, I would bet the closest is Detroit & it is about 4-5 hours away. But I would be more than happy to help set it up if that is what everyone wanted to do

....come to think of it we could leave from my place & you "far off' guys could fly into Columbus, which is only about an hour from here.

It actually is pretty cold. In the photo of us in the water, we figured it to be about 60. We were there in June a few years back (2005) & the air temp was about 95 & the water couldn't have been more than 45. We had a contest to see who could stay under longest...the winner had a time of 1 minute & 35 seconds

BTW, we are going the first weekend of October & still have room for one more!! I also just got my first Padron 1964 in the mail...I bought it to smoke on the beach under the stars
