i'm still alive

not that anybody cares Just wanted to let everybody know things are going ok and i'm still around. Haven't smoked a cigar in like a month but that's ok.

I have dropped 35lbs and now weigh 225. Plan on getting down to 210 give or take 5lbs. I feel healthier now than I have in years and I love it.

Anyway just wanted to stop in and say hi to the gang b/c it's been tooo long

well of course Stan. Just been really busy and it's hard to find the time to sit and enjoy one for 1-2hrs

I do not like rushing when I smoke a cigar. Also, I told myself I had to weigh below 220 before smoking another so I still have some work to do

well what has really motivated my weight loss is just like what Ben Stiller said in Dodgeball

I just didn't hate myself enough before to lose weight

once that changed I got my ass in gear

I needed "cigar breaks" to keep my sanity. I did not realize it until I went without one for so long though.

Way to go Matt, we all know you can make that weight.

Are you doing any cardio, like running, martial arts, boxing etc, ?

started off pretty simple by just walking. When I got that up to 4miles I then hit the eliptical. When I got that up to 4+miles I started doing intense intervals to get my heart rate going

Now i'm pulling a weight sled and started doing sprints. This will be accompanied with walking and eliptical work

I try to go cardio day, lift day, cardio day, lift etc......

sometimes I will still walk in the morning on the days I lift

This has gotten me in pretty good shape so far

Thats a good plan. I had 2 knee surgeries and couldnt even run 1 mile without my knee hurting so bad I had to stop. So I took it slow did the elliptical for 30 min a day for 4 days a week and did weights the other 3. Stretched and withing 2 months I was doing about 13 miles on the treadmill.

I havent ran for about 4 months now.. I have to get back to the gym

I'd say you are well on your way to getting down to the weight you are looking for - absolutely awesome bro!

No idea what your weight lifting program looks like so take my recommendations with a grain of salt:
1. Limit your program to broadly hit each of your muscle groups; preferably grouped as "Upper" and "Lower" 2-4 times a week (M-F).
2. Limit your program to as few as 4 or as many as 8 excecises per workout.
3. Keep your sets to 3 (plus 1-2 intial warm up sets) and keep your reps between 15-20.
4. Obviously the weight you push should be moderate. Enough to challenge you, but not so much that you burn out.

If I can help out PM me. Weight lifting and nutrition is a passion of mine, I'm more then willing to share my "expertise".

Keep at it though - you are definately making impressive progress!

don't forget JAX I hold a WR in the Bench press I had to throw that in there

one thing I know how to do is lift. It's always been my sweet tooth that has gotten the best of me. All I really had to do is just cut out all the junk and just start eating healthy foods again.

If I can get my lower back fixed I also plan to compete in another strongman comp this summer. I won it a cpl years ago but am not sure if I will still be living in this area to compete at it again. Will prolly start focusing more on that in April or so

My current goal is to be able to do a pullup with 100lbs strapped to me. I just started doing weighted pullups a cpl weeks ago and I did 70lbsx2 today. Might of had three in me but I do not like missing reps so I didn't push it.
