My Snowboarding Daughter

Maggie is a great Snowboarder. She does it as well as she runs.

Well. This weekend she took it to the limit and went off a jump a little too fast, lost control a bit landed toe first and then ass over tea kettle.

She shattered her elbow and had to rescued her off the mountain and brought her to a Swiss Hospital. After x-rays and a cat scan they said to get her back to Germany and have this fixed ASAP. They put her in a temp cast and filled her up with drugs.

Their bus got back last night around 0030 and we had her at the Hospital around 0115. They dug right into her and wired, screwed, pinned and sent her to bed. She has some nerve damage to here fingers but, the Doc's say after they are done with her she should be 100%.

I am truely impressed with the medical service in Europe.

She will be in the Hospital for one week. They have to wait for all the swelling to go down before they can fit her with a sholder to hand cast.

I sure am glad it was not her leg.

Here she is in the Sindelfingen Hospital right up the street from our house.
She looks high as a kite.

Damn dude, that sucks! Glad she's gonna be ok, but sounds like she's got a bit of a tough road ahead of her for a bit. Best wishes!

That sucks. I used to race BMX and mountain bikes. I have broke both my wrists, collar bones,, dislocated R shoulder, broken nose, and more scars than I care to count. I have never broke my elbow though. Looks like it might be a pretty grueling recovery since her entire left arm is immobolized. Hope she makes a full recovery.

I always found the swelling a couple of days after the break was the worst part. After that it was just a matter of time.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

Best wishes for her and a speedy recovery!

Three weeks ago my best friend took a spill in Vermont. Shattered his collarbone. Thanks to our wonderful insurance system, he got back on his board and mmade it to the bottom of the hill. 2 hour drive back home to the clinic. They did surgery on him that Thursday.

I told him he is all set for every Halloween going forward.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I will tell her you are wishing her well. They do such a great job here in Germany with the injured but, they just don't believe in pain medication. She had a restless night as the swelling is going down and the pain is setting in.

Bill, That's just nasty. I feel sorry for that guy.

Ok, off to the Hospital to see my little girl. See you later.

Glad she is getting quality healthcare!!! Please tell her your 'friends' wish her well!

I can share with you that he was very in tune with the 4 hours between taking pain meds. At about 3.5 hours the pain would start coming on again. After about 2.5 weeks he was dropping the frequency and he is back to work, although still taking some meds, after 3 weeks.
