As I said a during our phone conversation bro....this is something you can do!

The secret to quiting cigs is quite simple: You have to want to (duh) but you have to take control of the habit, kick it in the rear and dominate it. Don't give back control and you'll be fine. Don't use life to give you a reason to light up because "I'm stressed". DEAL WITH IT!!!

Take it one day and a time and believe me, you'll be golden. Use this thread to keep us posted or just flat vent, B!tch, complain or whatever you need to do to keep from lighting up. We're here for ya bro!!!

Besides, now you'll have some time to do some good 'ole fashion cigar and pipe reviews! I'll bet you don't taste plum in that Irish Flake now that you have your taste buds back....

First week is the hardest. Just do what you can to keep yourself busy. Smoke cigars, chew gum, hard candy, altoids, tic-tacs... anything to keep your mouth busy.

Back in the day, I did toothpicks. Takes care of that "oral" fixation.

I am one week away from being cigarette free for one full year. Wanting to quit is the number one weapon. Don't be afraid to spoil yourself frequently; rewards can be excellent motivators.

Great tar Anton. Quiting the cigs is the hardest thing to do. I still smoke, not as much. God, how I wish I could give it up forever. It's hard and tough. My dad told me never to say I was quiting just say, no thanks, I just had one. Just never worked for me. I still smoke. I guess that means CM won't want to meet me in August. One of tne hardest thing I have ever wanted and need to do. God, I really hate cig's. To all that have done it. Way to go and keep it up.

You know Stan. It is sure something to do with the hand/mouth thing. I just can't see myself hand/jobing all the time.

JK. God. To be able to quit smoking cigs would give me a chance to see my grandchildren. I so hope I can.

Patrick, what helped me quit, was going to roll your own cigs.

I would buy a bag of Bali Shag, and every time I wanted a cig, I had to get the tobacco out, roll a cig, put the tobacco up then lite up.

So alot of the time, I just didn't smoke because of all the hassle, and weird looks people gave me.

Just don't roll a bunch of them up the nite before, that defeats the purpose of rolling your own cigs, make having that cig as difficult as possible.

It worked for me, after a month or two, I just quit.

Its been since 9/05 since I smoked a cig, now if I can kick the dipping habit I'll be fine.

Thanks for all of the support, tips, and suggestions!

Buz, I also was making my own cigarettes. I think that it is making it a little easier to not want one because they don't have all of the extra additives that manufactured cigarettes do.

I have wanted one a couple of times today but I think it was just the habit of having one at a certain time; the urge went away quite quickly. I didn't feel like I "needed" one like I used to feel when I smoked manufactured cigs.

Well, one day down .

Were you making your cigs with a machine and filter tubes ?

You need to hand roll them, no filter !!!!!!!, and only when you want a smoke, make it as hard as possible to lite up.

But, congrats on going cold turkey, I know you can do it !

Very cool Bob, you can do it man! I haven't had one in...I'm on Day 51 I guess, so around 6 weeks now. I still have up to 3, sometimes 4, dips a day. Some days I go without completely and it's not a big deal. Gonna give that up next. Oddly enough, a LOT of people either haven't noticed that I quit smoking cigs, or haven't said anything. Take it one day at a time and keep it going man. We'll celebrate having no cigs next weekend together

Great advice Tom. The only problem is most Germans roll their own. The have conversation while rolling. Thats just what I need. Rolling along with Germans and not have any idea what they are talking about. I did try that a few years ago and went back to buying in a few weeks. I guess I just don't get it yet. Poor me.
