Our Muffin is no longer with us

Muffin, our 13 year old Peek-a-poo decided to commit suicide tonight. She is always vanishing when I let her out. Well, tonight I went looking for her about 3 minutes after letting her out to pee.

I found her in the middle of the road.....run over.

I rushed her first to our vet...who had gone home for the night...then to an Emergency facility in Wilson...she was hangin' in there....but the trauma was too much on her head.

We made the decision to put her down. A family member gone. She had a long run and was the best of the best. I brought her home and found a nice spot in the back yard.

Was a tough night for all.

..It was all my fault.

You can't blame yourself Mike. You only did what you've always done when you let her out. 13 years is a good run for any type of dog and she had a good home while on this earth. Many dogs dont even get that opportunity. I know its always hard losing a companion like that and words cant fix anything but be grateful for the time you did have with her.

Sorry to hear that Mike. Like everyone else said 13 years is a nice long life for a dog. I had a German Shepard that we had to put down when she was 9 years old, I know its tough on everyone involved.

So sorry Mike. I never had a dog until I got married. Now I don't know what life would be like without a dog.

You can't blame yourself. Just like Aces said, you have done it for years. 13 years is solid longevity for a dog. I know that doesn't mean a whole lot now, but when you look back at pictures/videos, you will realize how much you really did get out of your companion.

Deepest sympathies for your loss.

I lost my German Shorthair Pointer to pancreatitis at 13 years, 13 days in September, 2007.

I understand the loss and mourning.
