No trouble staying warm up here in the North yesterday...

My buddy Ty is finally home from Baghdad Yesterday, we went out to the range and wasted some lead and had a blast (literally). When we got home, we were planning on going down to the bar to have a beer or two along with a pair of cigars I've kept in my humi for over a year waiting for him to get home. Just as we were leaving, our fire pagers went off for a garage fire outside of town, out near Ty's place. Unfortunately, when we got there, it WAS Ty's step-dad's garage. Huge, 3 story garage that had pretty much all of Ty's stuff in it , completely gone. Damn building went up so fast we didn't even have a chance at making entry on the place. Their dog kennels were in the ground floor (you can see the fences to the left in the pictures), the dogs were huddled in the corners as far from the building as they could get. I have never in my life heard a noise like I heard from those dogs...it haunted my dreams last night. As I was waiting on tools to get to me to cut through the fence and get the dogs, I sprayed em down with my hose and watched as the steam leapt from their backs We did get the dogs all out and they're gonna be fine thankfully...but damn, what a day.

To show how close we had to get to the heat to get the dogs out, this is my flashlight that hangs on my chest. It looked almost brand new before the fire but seems to have a lil bit of warping going on now

Anyhow...I know there's been lots of requests for prayers & good thoughts lately, and things could be a lot worse for him, but if you guys could spare some thoughts for Ty I'd really appreciate it.

Terrible news for your friend and his stepdad!

So glad there was a 'happy' ending that the doggies made it out safely!!

Good on you to think about spraying them down!

Sending positive thoughts South!!

Thanks for the thoughts guys, I'll make sure to pass them on. No heroes here, we worked as a team to get done what we could. I love dogs, and those howls of pain were the most awful thing I've ever heard in my life. If we hadn't gotten them out, Ty's stepded was going nuts and we likely wouldn't have kept him out of there. The main reason I posted the pic of my light was to show the kind of heat those dogs were facing until we got them out. Really unbelieveable that they came out as relatively ok as they did. 6 Rotty's and a pit-bull mix. They breed the Rotty's and they're just gorgeous dogs.

Sorry to hear about your friends loss. Glad you got the dogs out though.
This is turning out to be a real shitty holiday season for a lot of people .

So glad nobody/dogs were hurt but very sad story anyway. Any idea of what caused the fire?

Yeah, we're pretty sure we know but I don't think I should say at this time as it's likely to result in at least one lawsuit. Nothing criminal, more negligent I suppose than anything...
