End of the World 2012?! Yay or Nay?

History Channel is making major bucks due to this end of the world rumor and hype! If your a religious believer you know that God says no one knows when the world will end and it'll come like a thief in the night or what have you. What do you guys think? Here's an "article", if you will, on the world ending I wrote on myspace Kinda long but pretty interesting if your, well, interested. Keep in mind the War of the World hoax back in the 1930's about aliens attacking.Many people bought it. It wasn't true.



"Allow me to start off saying that for many many years the worlds inhabitants...humans specifically...have said the world was going to end literally every single year from one reason to another. These people have "valid" reasons in which undoubtedly state the end of our very existance. They said the world would end last year and the year befare and even the current year. Search it online for more information. These people who create these claims want to influence large quantaties of people in order to 'cash in'. MEANING if I were to influence or persuade, if you will, many people that the world will end January 13th 2009 than I could make a book. All of those intruiged and frightened people will want to buy my book. THe more people the more money. Eventually tv shows will want to take action as well...convincing people that the world will end January 13th, 2009. The more viewers the more...what? Oh yeah, MONEY!

Now what exactly makes the year 2012 so "frightening". A culture way back when called The Maya Culture was a culture in central America. They were very good with mathematics and astrology SO good that they predicted solar events far far far into their future without the use of telescopes. They tracked movements of stars and planets to the point where they eventually created the Long Count calendar spanning 5,125.35 years long. This calendar is more precise than our modern day calendar. When does it end? December 21st, 2012 of course.


Many other oracles also predict the year 2012 as having some form of significance. Some even pin-pointing December 21st as the date as well. What does this mean? Either something is really going to happen OR modern day folks tampered with writtings and created this whole December 21st, 2012 dilemma. Major prophets have predicted, in the past, that the world would certainly without a freaking doubt end on certain dates far into the past and, well obviously, they were wrong wrong wrong.


As more and more people are frightened yet curious about 2012 as our doomsday, more and more will buy books and so on and so forth...as stated earlier. Whats my take on this subject? After a while doing research and watching those very shows, I am convinceed that something MAY happen but not the way many people are interpretting it as.


You see....the Mayan calender (Long Count) Ends on December 21st, 2012, correct. This was actually a time in which they themselves looked forward to. Why look forward to the end of the world? You wouldn't and niether would they. Just because their calendar ends that day doesnt make it the end of the world for crying out loud. Our calendars end December 31st of whatever year it is. Does the world end? Heck no dog. It simply starts over.


There is, however, an event called the galactic alignment that will supposedly take place meaning the Sun will align with the center of the Milky Way galaxy. This will happen the 21st of December in, you guessed it, 2012. Yes...great stuff but still does not...does NOT signify the world will end when this happens. As the mayans said there will be a great change. This could mean many GOOD things. Cure for cancer, end of wars, anything good...THAT is what could happen but if its something totally scary and serious than more people will "cash in" on it.


If you are a religious believer than you know that God says noone knows when the world will end. It will come as a thief in the night. If no one is suppose to know than how could anyone know this. Do you really think God would destroy our Earth in a few years? Yes there are storms...its called global warming. Its not going to cause a mass extinction. Below yellowstone national park there IS a huge volcano....but the likelyhood, according to people who work there, of it erupting is about the same chance of an asteroid hitting the earth.......pretty unlikely.( however on the History channel the people on there said it could erupt any moment AGAIN to scare you). Magnetic fields. If our poles reversed that would be bad but that happens over a long period of time. And the asteroid hit....If we see one in our radar or what have you, we have the technology to take care of that.


Before you blabber when the Earth will end take time and due some research from scientists. Search why the world will NOT end in 2012. You will find awesome stuff and feel safe again. Don't think you know when the world will end because thats something only God knows....unless you don't believe and go a different religious route. If you want to continue to scare yourself or those around you than tough luck. I was a believr but come on...look around you and really think to yourself..."Will this really happen? Will mass extinctions across the globe really happen?" Also think about the mayans....why would they look forward to this event if it will be terrible and frightening? If the world were really coming to an end in a mere few years wouldn't we know by now? It would be all over the news "World is ending Dec. 21st 2012". People wouldnt be insane and hectic. But no....nothing. NASA isnt telling us a huge asteroid will hit us then. No signs of the huge volcano erupting anytime soon. Nothing.


If the world was for sure coming to an end....why are those people telling you it is worrying about paying taxes? Going to work? Doing stuff they don't want to do if we are all going to die in a few years? Just think about it ladies and gentlemen"

Will the world get worse before it gets better? Yes

The coming "cooling period" makes our lives a little different? yes

Will Wars continue? yes

Will poverty continue? yes

Will the World end? I don't think so, but only God knows for sure.

I think shows like this try to stir up emotional responses to forward an agenda. Over the centuries this is the case and it's worked pretty well...

Earth is a living being. It will do what it needs to survive. If that means finding a way to get rid of the parasites (humans), then it will.

I see a scenario like the movie "The Day After Tomorrow." The Earth needs a "detox." Or maybe more like a "Waterworld" because all of polar caps melt and then we are really screwed.

Anyway you look at it, something has to give. Either humans will make drastic changes or the Earth will.

If the Mayans were so good at predicting anything, I find it strange that they failed to predict their own demise. Nostradomus hasn't predicted a squirt of piss worthy of mention, let alone a TV show.

Of course, most of us can recal the Y2K crapola that the media couldn't leave alone. The sun was not going to rise, rivers would change direction, shit would come out the other hole, etc, etc, etc... I could remember laughing at people back then and I will do the same in 2012. Everyone knows it has to go on past 2112; else why would Rush name the album for a year that nobody would live in?

I predict an earthquake that will shock the world. Many will die and a city will be in ruin. I also predict a war, many will perish and nations will rise from the ashes. Oh, the weather is going to change.

I heard or read somewhere that the Mayans knew Cortez or whomever was coming but someone, I think satan, told them this would be Jesus coming for them therefore they thought he was a good guy so werent ready to fight. Here comes Cortez ready to kill them and the mayans think he's good thus resulting in the Mayans dying. Taha 2112 COULD say the date December 21st and the year 12' however nothing bad will happen. Too many people are going bananas and will regret it when we are all here for 2012s' Xmas. Keep in mind Jesus still has to come down for the 1,000 year peace period so that might be 2012 but even if, as God says, no one knows.
