Cuban Cigarettes?
What's the difference in taste, if any, between ISOM cigarettes and any others in the world? Mainly between Cubans and the Marlboros, Salems, Virginia Slims etc. I've seen all my life?
Just curious. Kegan |

Re: Cuban Cigarettes?
The only cuban cigarettes I have ever had were some older cohiba's that a fellow botl had rat holed away and they were good in all respects but they packed a nice whallop compared to pack of reds.

Re: Cuban Cigarettes?
I will put it this way. A friend of mine years ago gave me a pack of Montecristo cigs. (no filters). I am so glad that these aren't readily available here. For if they were, I never would have given up cigarettes. Man they were tasty!
I don't even know if the Monte cigs are even available anymore. |

Re: Cuban Cigarettes?
So they're like a cigar then? I'm not meaning the taste, I mean they taste like good tobacco compared to US gas station cigarettes.
A fellow BOTL sent me a link, and they had cigarettes listed too, with free shipping. Turned out to be a few bucks cheaper than US smokes. I don't smoke cigs a lot, I'm mostly pipes, but I'd be interested in trying these if I knew they were decent. |

Re: Cuban Cigarettes?
I'd give em a shot, if you're not crazy about them you're just out a few bucks and I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem finding someone that would want to try them out and take them off your hands. I've never had them but I'd imagine the level of quality and difference in flavor would vary just as it does between the domestic brands we have here; as well as levels of quality found under the same brand name such as tobaccos found in Camel Filtered cigarettes vs. Camel Regulars(Unfiltered Camels have a smoother yet more flavorful blend of tobacco).
PS. if you do try some and don't like them shoot me a pm because i'd be one of those people happy to relieve you of them ![]() |

Re: Cuban Cigarettes?
Unless you have lungs of steel, you don't want to smoke them.
I'm not a cig smoker, and never had one, but I sold them for a while in my shop (Cohiba and RyJ). For laughs and giggles, I took a pack to my old job, US Postal service and pass them out to my friends during lunch break, about 12 people participated.... Five went home sick within half hour of smoke it. I was glad I no longer worked for them..lol From what I understand, Cuban cigs are natural cigar tobacco, chopped up to make the cigs. If you really want to try it, cut the edge off a Cohiba cigar, chop them up and roll your own, make sure you put a two inch filter on it as a newbie. |

Re: Cuban Cigarettes?
Man, considering the risks and trouble you Americans take in procuring Cuban anything, why would you go through all the trouble for cigarettes? Get some CC man!

Re: Cuban Cigarettes?
You might want to re-read the rules about Cuban products and the legalities in the US. Also, you cannot discuss sources here.

Re: Cuban Cigarettes?
I burned through a pack of Cohibas a few years back in the Caymans. I was interested in the novelty of it. The tobacco is definately loose filler cigar tobacco. The cigarettes have the same rich taste. These do burn quickly. They are rolled loose and do not pack well.
They do pack a punch even with the filter on them. I prefer my camel lights, but I'm a creature of habit.

Re: Cuban Cigarettes?
From what I've read and have been told, the tobacco is not the same as cigar tobacco. The leaf is grown specifically for cigarettes in a different region, not remnants from the production of cigars. I was in Trinidad, Cuba and passed by a cigarette factory and the smell was intense- much like hay. Having said that, Cuban cigarettes have a distinct taste in comparison to American cigarettes, just like brands from other countries taste differently. The aroma from an RyJ or Cohiba cigarette is definitly Cuban. It's no substitute for a cigar or cigarillo, though.

Sorry for the trouble folks. As for the Canadian gentleman, I just don't care for CCs; this is a curiosity thing for me lol. Kegan |
