Yahoo!!! New roof on its way

Finally!!!
Five long months after Wilma, which has included countless phone calls and inspections, my new roof is on its way.
They started taking the old tiles down today and laid down the first stage of paper on parts of the roof.
Two to three day process to finish that first layer.
After the inspector comes, they do a "mop" layer.
One more inspection and then, brand new Spanish S tiles.

Can't wait.
I was freaking out I wouldn't have it in time for the next hurrican season, right around the corner come June.
I tried to sit down and figure out exactly how many ISOMs I could get with the $38,000.00 the roof is costing and I quickly stopped. I had to quickly stop or I could see myself actually ordering them and leaving the roof as is. That would just give my wife yet one more reason to shoot me.

Congrats Carlos. I know it's been a long process for you. Glad to hear you finally found a roofer that passed the Blueface Qualification Process!

I had to replace my roof acouple of years ago. The worst part is finding a contractor you can trust, for the price you can afford. Good luck on the repairs.

As with anything, sure helps when you get a credible source.
This roofer is very highly recommended by a contractor friend/neighbor that has done a significant amount of work on my home throught the last ten years. He knows the family well and has always done business with them. That put my mind at ease quite a bit as it is a frightening experience finding a reputable roofer after a storm.

A neighbor of mine is going through a horror story now. They were asked for a $14,000 deposit by a different roofer (in contrast to $3,800 for me with mine). That was over two months ago. Nothing being done to the home yet. I signed up with mine about three weeks ago and we are on our way already.

Moral is to always try to rely on reputation by word of mouth. Can't go by the pretty butterflies they try to paint for you when they do the sales pitch. I am not out of the woods yet but I feel pretty comfortable with the way it is going, specially when he worked it out most of the money remains on my side as he completes the job. That is rare.

Hope we don't see what those poor folks in Australia got to experience last night. I could not even begin to imagine 175 MPH winds hitting my roof. Wilma almost took it all off and she was nowhere even remotely near that.
