Anyone have laser eye surgery?

I'm thinking about getting it for my wife at some point. I would hope I could get a portion of it covered by insurance, but I'm not holding my breath.

I did, through the Navy. It is one of the best decisions I ever made. I was 20/400 before the surgery. I'm 20/15 now. I had it done in May 2005.

I got mine done in January and only wished I had done it sooner. I had a bad astigmatism in both eyes and now I am 20/15 in the left eye and 20/20 in the right eye.

May I ask a ballpark range to get it done?

I just received my new insurance card and they are saying they cover some of the Lasik surgery costs... might be worth a call to your insurance to find out if they cover it.

Mine was $3k. I could have gone with a cheaper route, but I opted to go with some options that provide more precision -- non-blade (IntraLase) and wave front guided lasik) -- due to my bad astigmatism. Check out this site for more info. They are the ones that did mine.

If she qualifies, I would opt for the ICL or Implantable Contact Lenses. In my opinion this is the best long-term option, but they don't currently do this to correct astigmatism.

I had mine done in Oct 1999 for about $3k. It was the best money I have ever spent on myself. I would make sure that you ask a lot of questions and go with the best doctor.
