Unfortunately I couldn't find any furniture pictures. These are two older pictures of Wall Units I built before I changed Careers from a Cabinetmaker to a Drafter
I think this one was maple with a custom water stain that I made up to match a cherry piece. ![]() This one was a nightmare but came out really nice. ![]() |

I can;t take all the credit (except for finishing, I did all of that) I worked with a couple of really talented guys. I wish I had photos of all the stuff we built over the years.
I really wish I had pictures of the stuff I built on my own, on the side. |

Unfortunately not so much these days.
At my last job I had a key to the front door. Aside from the machinery and finish department it had tons and tons f space to build. With the new house I am going to be very limited as to where I can build which is kind of depressing, but at least I'll have something. |

I love working with wood. I have nowhere near the talent of some of the pieces Ive seen, but heres something to thik about. I have a 6x9 room off my bedroom i have made into an office and I needed a desk to convert to fit a planned area. I went to the thrift shop, goodwill and Salvation Army and found a kitchen table for $20. The legs were garbage, but the table top was 1 1/2 inch thick butcher block wood about 4 ft by 5 feet. with some crap varnish on it. no real gouges but some marks. I took the legs off and sanded for half a day the top and bottom of the wood. This was the most beautiful table top I have ever seen. I kept some wood for a cutting board as well. I cut it to shape and stained it a honey brown and varnished it. This is a pretty ice looking makeshift desk and sturdy as hell. for $20. the top alone was worth $500 easy.
If youneed some interesting wood, go to the thrift shops and look at furnoture and see beyond the crap look and see the potential of the wood. youll get great bargins and revive some real pretty wood. |
