Since I wear guayaberras almost daily, the conversation of cigars came up rather quickly. My wife is Argentinian. Although she does not smoke, she sees nothing wrong with people who choose to. She told me several years ago I needed a hobby, so I picked cigars as my hobby. Now she just looks at my office and shakes her head as she asks, "How many humidors do you need?"

We have an understanding about it though. The other day she told me I have been working a lot of hours lately and to reward myself I should go buy this humidor and cigars I had been eyeing. I thought it was odd, but never look a gift horse in the mouth right? The next day she was dressing for work and she had on a new pair of shoes... now I know why she was so insistent I go buy another humidor. LOL!

Honestly.....I dont think I would come right out and say "Hey btw I smoke cigars." You dont have to hide it from her, but it isn't nesc. to bring it up on the first date as "table conversation." See how things play out and if someone is truely interested in you or likes you...she'll look past it. I have a gf who loves me to death and HATES smoking but hey we're still together and I still kick it at Robusto's weekly with the guys and girls.

John, I would operate on a need-to-know basis. Tell her when she needs to know. (Which probably won't be right away.) Most people aren't thinking of cigars when they talk about smoking preference anyway.

Besides you wanna make sure you hold something back for her to be angry at you for down the road. Otherwise, she'll make stuff up, and you have less input on those things.

Depends on the chick man. For something like this they fall into 3 categories. 1, total raging bitches, they will never except you smoking a stogie. This also means they will never except anything you do that they deem wrong. If this is the case, ditch the bitch. 2, what would be a no no at the beggining can actually be one of those endearing quirks later in the relationship (talking to her girlfriend) " ohhh you know john is having another one of his cigars... heck it keeps him outa my haif for a lil while LOL." Then there is #3 like my wife "Hell it makes him happy". 3 is definatly the best, 2 can score ya some nice "me" time, and 1 is just a waste of your time. So my advice is just figure what type she is and play it from there.

My wife is is a cross between 2 and 3. She doesn't mind if it makes me happy, and it gives both of us some alone time. Should I be worried that she often asked me if I want to go outside and smoke a cigar:mumbles:

Hey, this isn't Oprah. LOL! I was just asking for some advice on when I should divulge my cigar hobby to my candidates for Mrs. Rider version 2.0. So far, it really hasn't been much of an issue, because none have impressed me enough to even consider giving up this single lifestyle I am living - mostly because they have little (other than the obvious) to contribute to the team. And let's face it, most single women in my age range (35-45) come with a considerable number of children and/or cats, financial problems, emotional damage, or all the above. Available women in this range who have their "stuff" together - even a little bit - are hard to find.

I realize that this is coming from a guy who posts pictures of himself with Paris Hilton. I am willing to overlook a lot, but I am just saying, I think most of the available women are seriously delusional.
