air travel with otterbox?

Gearing up to leave on Sunday. Borrowed Hollywood's otterbox, getting ready to load it.

A few questions:
Will security be likely to be suspicious of such a large humidor (I'm taking it in my carryon)?
Will I probably have to unload it layer by layer to show them the full contents?
Best to leave cuban bands on, take them off, or reband with NC bands?

Any other advice?

Doubt it. I travel weekly and carry tons of different things back and forth.

Will I probably have to unload it layer by layer to show them the full contents?

Not at all. As long as there is no lighter or weapons in there, you are fine.

I always travel with my sticks as they are. Not inferring I carry ISOMs but if I did, it is not like I am going through customs, as long as within the US.

Any other advice?

Yup, enjoy them.
Hope this helps.

Will I probably have to unload it layer by layer to show them the full contents? No, it will go right through the machine.
Best to leave cuban bands on, take them off, or reband with NC bands? If you're flying domestically, it doesn't matter. If you're flying internationally and might be coming back with some of the cigars, then unband or reband.

Any other advice? Have fun!

"Don't care" was my experience with smaller humis, glad it's the same with slightly larger ones...

Re: air travel with otterbox?

new issue of CA has a little article about the otterbox and carrying lighters on planes. They can be carried on in checked luggage that goes underneath the plane. The exemption pertains only to Zippo lighters and only two fueled lighters (one per otterbox case) are permetted per passenger on a plane.

Re: air travel with otterbox?

yep. great advice. i've been to 6 or 7 different locations now with that same otterbox. Not once did they even ask me to get it out of my carry-on backpack!! Enjoy the flight and have a safe vacation!! Take lots of pics(mainly of women, but scenery is ok, too)!!

Re: air travel with otterbox?

th eonly time i've had problems is when i put them in my checked baggage and some stupid azz wants to open them up and take a peek. of course, i watch every fuggin move those goons make, and ensure they put everything back the way they found it. they hate me at the KC airport.

Re: air travel with otterbox?

I took mine on a plane from San Francisco to Sydney and customs glanced at them to make sure they were what I said they were but that was it.

I've taken 'em on many flights and through customs. They've never been opened and I've never had a problem.

Re: air travel with otterbox?

I carried them once in a tupperware container with beads and a digital hygrometer. Figured they had to look like sticks of dynamite with a timer, but either they really know what they are doing....or they are really stupid....cause they never checked or asked.
I'll go with they know what they are doing...makes me feel better.
