Forgotten Warriors !!!

My Dear BOTL,

I do not like to speak about my exploits as a mere humble person. I was speaking with John51277 in im talking to him about giving away cigars. Here is what i do allbeit humbly. In SanFrancisco at the Powel Street BART Station(i.e.) Cable Car Turn Around, there are a group of homeless veterans that i try to visit atleast twice a month. On my trips i take as many cigars as i can afford to these forgotten warriors and we play chess and go out to dinner even it is is simply bringing these brothers to my home and feeding them(which my wife is not to thrilled about). Sometimes i take them to the hospital or to appointments. I know that our resources are spent in efforts to aid our warriors over seas and i am in no way negating the the jobs they aer doing.

I am simply saying that these brothers are forgotten by society and scowled at by people who look on them in discuss. Often times being beaten and abused in many other ways. They aer certainly not homeless by choice, as many of you know having a home in the Bay Area is very exspensive. The homeless issue is sickening in the Bay Area to say the least. I can not and do not have the resources to help everyone, but the homeless vets are my personal project. Do you know how much it means to have someone just walk up to them and say thank you for your service, and buy them a cup of coffe or buy them a meal. Not to mention it is good for the soul. At any rate i try to do as much as possible for these all to forgotten warriors. So if there are any of you brothers out there that have an extra cigar or two, and feel like doing a good deed for a veteran(not to say that you are not allready doing that) please feel free to contact me at anytime. I will ask in the future if they mind me taking a few pics of all of us herfing together. I really did not want to talk about this in an open forum, becasue i did not want to have the appearnce of placing myself on a pedistol or robbing myself of any blessings from God. Well that is about all for now, thank you for taking the time to read this most humble post.

Respectfully& Humbly,

Keith...very cool of you to do this...Ill be honest, I have way too many family members that are vietnam vets and frankly they are scoweled even to this day for their service. I never really stop and think about the homeless vets. thanks for the heads up. Ill send some out as well.

Ok someone from Brooklyn sent me some cigars named Daniel, and i am sorry to say i do not know his CL name sadly. I have recieved cigars from a couple of members so far, for these forgotten warriors(homeless veterans) and i am going to wait until ThanksGiving Day to bestow these delightful sticks upon them. I want to personally thank everyone for thier contributions. These brothers are so grateful for anytime that someone takes to spend with them. It really breaks your heart to see the shape they are in after all they have given to our country, and how they are looked upon today.

Thank You Respectfully,

"...some cigars named Daniel" could be interpreted as cigars with names.

The way it was worded just struck me as funny, no disrespect intended... just a little good natured ribbing.

I did not think that it was funny due to the underlying intent. I still do not think it was funny.

My boss told me that when he came back from Vietnam that he and many of his buddies where treated bad. That would never happen these days. He served our country and he should have been treated right when he came back. I have two relatives, a sister and a brother in law in the marines right now. I could not be prouder to have them serving our country. I hope they are treated fairly when they get back from war.

As much as it paines me to say , it does happen but not the degree that it happened back in the 60's and 70's. Sadly it takes place, but i am making it my business to make sure they are treated with respect and diginity. A humble undertaking, but a needed one to say the least....
