I got a 14 lb bird for our family and making the usual accoutrements (jellied cranberry, french-cut green beans, mashed taters & gravy, relish tray, candied yams, and of course a Bombay martini). I am going to try this recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/reci...6_7569,00.html Apple-Cranberry Sage Dressing for a change of pace. I'm making the "normal" cornbread stuffing too - just in case. For dessert - pumpkin pie & whipped cream.

My girl and I are doing something similiar. Turkey breasts in the crock pot, it sure does come out nice and juicy!

I'm hosting and doing the sides. Good ol' Mom is doing the turkey, stuffing and gravy. So here's what we're serving for six:

APPS:
Homemade Serrano Pepper Jelly w/crackers
Brie Pastry Puffs w/Chipotle-Raspberry Sauce

SIDES:
Sweet Potato Pudding w/Stilton Cheese
Potato Leek Gratin
Cranberry, Pineapple & Pecan Chutney
Skillet Cornbread (incl. roasted corn & jalapeno)
Brussels Sprouts (w/cherries, apple, red onion, brown sugar -- it's actually good!)

The wife and I are responsible for desserts this year. She is making a cheesecake, pumpkin pie and I will be responsible for the Apple Pie (great Emeril recipe).

Julie and I are responsible for the Turkey with her Mom (who lives very close to us now...), so that means I am cooking. Got a 12Lb bird that I am brining, a la Alton Brown, tonight. Making some Sausage, Cranberry and Thyme stuffing and some homemade gravy as well as Garlic-Sour Cream mashed potatoes. The salad and other sundries are Julie's Mom's deal... As for the bird, the stuffing and mashed - it's all me baby! I love cooking it. Hopefully this will get me some more brownie points, lol!
