Airport question

Anyone have any trouble bringing beads in their carry-on?
Also, I'm flying from Toronto to Chicago and then Chicago to South Korea. Do I have to go through customs or anything like that in Chicago? I may have some Illegal immigrants amongst the cigars I'm bringing and don't wanna cause a problem.

Beads should be ok, but I'd put the smokes in a check bag and keep it on the hush.

Hmmm...Common sense would tell me "no" that you wouldn't have a problem from Toronto to Chicago and Chicago to S. Korea since you're in essence traveling from Canada to S. Korea. And since you're not a U.S. citizen your "stowaways" should be of no concern, BUT (and this is a big but) common sense is not usually the way things are handled at the airport. So really, I don't have any kind of answer for you Kass. I just wanted to vent a bit.

First, let me say how sorry I am I missed you at Tim's yesterday. It was my first day back after missing a few days in the busyiest month of the year, and just couldn't make it click. Hope you guys had a great time.

Personally, I'd put the beads in checked luggage. To be on the safe side, I'd take the smokes on with me, and as someone else suggested, maybe remove the bands.

No worries Jim, its too bad it didnt work out. But, I'll be back at Tims in about a year. So well plan it better next time.

I'm definately carrying on the cigars. I thought the beads might be a bit suspicious to security as they probably have no idea what they are and wouldnt understand if I tried to explain. I've never had a changeover flight before so I'm not sure how it works. Its easy enough to take the bands off, though. I'll bring em with and put them back after.

According to my dad, when flying to the US from Pearson airport you have to go through US customs at Pearson.

I always keep my cigars on me. Just don't bring your lighter and you should be good to go.

You can carry these smokes in a carry on bag if you would like.........they must be unbanded so that they have no details about the origins of the smokes. If they try to take them from you, well they can do that, but smash the Customs agents dreams right in front of him and snap them in half. If you won't be able to smoke them then at least you will get the satisfaction of seeing his sadness that he will not be either. I have never had any taken from me though.................

I watched a co-worker do that very same thing. When we were re-entering the U.S. he was flagged to be searched, on his person he had 5 sticks from ISOM. They had laid them out on a table where everyone could see, he then very calmly leaned over the table, grabbed all 5 smokes... and crushed them all. It was beautiful, all until he was arrested. He later had everything dismissed, though it was costly.

I fly out of Chicago ORD every week. They don't check smokes. However, you NEED to carry your smokes with you. It gets mighty cold in the cargo hold that will not be helpful for your cigars.
