My most Humble Appreciation... a XXX thread
Hello all of my favorite Gorilla’s and Gorilla-ettes!
Its been a long couple of weeks for me and there’s plenty to tell but first and foremost I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who were able to help Echo and I out during our time of need. The phone calls from friends is what helped get me through during this really hard crappy time. Hell, in fact…. I drove across town just to jump on a buddies computer just so I could thank all of you for what you’re doing. Its really really appreciated and made this tough time so much easier. Ok, I’ll give all you guys a quick rundown of the events that happened since I don’t have much time on my buddies computer. Sunday March 26th around 6pm I get a call from my neighbor that my house in on fire. I BLAZE home to find the fire fighters just getting the fire under control. By the time they get it out I’d say around 85%-90% of the home is wrecked. Echo and I were in shock, everything that we owned and had worked to make our lives more comfortable was gone. It was truly sad. While neighbors were consoling Echo I did a walk through investigation with the Fire Marshall and the Fire Investigators to determine the cause. In the dark and with everything still smoldering they couldn’t really determine if the fire originated inside the sofa or under it. However they explained all the burn patterns and everything and were generally very helpful. Echo and I spent the next 26 hours digging through the rubble with flashlights to see if anything was salvageable. We finally went to bed around 8pm the following day. Monday we pretty much did the same thing however the Fire Investigators came back early afternoon and did more investigation. They thought that the fire came from inside the sofa which mean somebody started it since sofa’s don’t just spontaneously combust. So either someone doesn’t like me (possible) or someone passing by tossed their lit cigarette onto my porch and it smoldered in the couch (probable). So that sucked. Then Tuesday comes and that’s when it started really getting bad. Insurance guys show up. I ask them if they are going to put Echo and I up in a hotel or an apartment or something and they respond, “We’re not going to do that”. I then tell them (ever so politely of course) well then what the hell is Renter’s Insurance for??? They then tell me I don’t have Renter’s Insurance. SHIT HITS FAN……. Long story short, my ex-landlord (contender for the Darwin Award) F***ed up and told me he covered Renter’s Insurance so I could drop mine. Stupid me for believing that bastage. What he meant was Insurance to the structure, his stuff… not mine. So pretty much I’m told “Sorry about your stuff, too bad, now get the hell out of here”. The situation was pretty ugly, thank god for level headed women or I might be somewhere else right now. So that was pretty much the lowest point we reached. Homeless, stuff-less, no family in the area. We were feeling pretty anxious at that point. But we pulled our shit together and 3 days later we finally found a house for us to move into immediately, how that came about is another long story. So we’ve spent the last week trying to get everything together because it took a small chunk of change for the deposit on the place. However it’s a nice neighborhood and a nice house. There’s the silver lining right there. The Dept I work for helped out a hell of a lot in getting us a bed and a couch and stuff so for that I’m grateful. Then yesterday I get a message from Greg aka IHT saying well I know you’ve been talking with me and Marc and all the guys but none of us have really told you what we’re doing. He then proceeds to tell me that you guys had organized this FREAKIN’ HUGE program to help out Echo and I in our time of need. I have to say when I heard the message I was literally speechless. I was so touched and truly grateful to you guys for the awesome things you guys were doing for us. I was impressed enough by all the donations and gift cards he said you guys were sending but when he mentioned you guys had all chipped in and bought me a humidor I actually felt the tears welling up. I’m thankful beyond words. I just can’t express to you guys how awesome a thing this is and how grateful I am for everything you guys are doing. I’m amazed and truly blessed to have such great friends here at ClubStogie. This is truly what the jungle is all about and I can’t begin to thank all of you guys enough. I’ll be returning to work on Monday and then I’ll have regular internet access but until then I want to thank all of you for your incredible generosity. You guys have truly touched my heart and renewed my faith in humanity. In my line of work, that’s really saying something too. You guys have made me believe in the inherent goodness of the human race. Thank you. My Deepest thanks and gratitude, Dustin & Echo The XXX’s |

Re: My most Humble Appreciation... a XXX thread
Thanks guys.
Echo and I are in good spirits and we're trying to stay positive about the whole thing. We were pretty much in tears for the first 3 or so days after the fire but now its all about rebuilding and enjoying each other. I'm just happy it didn't happen while we were sleeping or anything. Hopefully life for us will start to get back to normal in the next few months or so. I know with the generosity of all you gorilla's here it sure makes it easier. All of you are my Hero's. I'm not the type to usually ask for help or anything but this whole experience has been humbling. I thank you all for everything that you've done and continue to do. It makes me proud to be a member of ClubStogie. |

Re: My most Humble Appreciation... a XXX thread
All men get kicked in the nuts one good time in life...
...getting up and dusting yourself off is what seperates the real men from the wannabes... You are a REAL man...GJ bro on the way you are handling this, keep your head up and don't worry. As long as you stay focused on the road ahead, you will do very well. Going through a big loss myself, I have found that this helps out the most. You seem to have a great head on your shoulders and a wonderful woman by your side. What else do you need in life man? You have what everyone really desires and thats what counts. We are behind you 100% and are ready to do whatever it takes. Take it easy man and keep your head up (you too Echo )
