Some good movies I saw recently

I just saw Paris J'Taime... great film. It's abotu 20 shorts by a ton of different actors. It stars everyone from Willem Dafoe to Elijah Wood and Natalie Portman (and a ton of other actors from foreign films). I highly suggest you watch it with your significant other, that is, if you don't mind subtitles.

Another one was Sweeney Todd. Surely an Oscar contender. It was violent and gory and the music was great. (how often do you get to put that in the same sentence?) I liked Helena Bonham Carter's portrayal of Mrs. Lovett a million times better than Angela Lansbery's in the original broadway version. It might just be I've only heard the reunion cast and she has gotta be like what... 96?
LOL. It was truly a work of art from a very capable Tim Burton. I was surprised how good it really was. If you haven't seen it yet go watch it. You won't be disappointed. (yes... Sacha Baron Coen does have a significant role in the film... you'll laugh.)

What have you been watching lately?

The last good movie I watched was American History X, which was pretty good. The only other film I'd seen with Edward Norton was Fight Club, so seeing him in American History X was pretty shocking. I also re-watched American Beauty and Munich, both of which are excellent. American Beauty's one of my favorite movies.

The Weatherman was on TV Christmas night, a great movie in my opinion. That and Lord of War , which are really similar, are both great in my opinion, but I've found that they're hit and miss among my friends.

I recently saw a French film titled Pan's Labarynth that was truly incredible... Look it up on IMDB or NetFlix. This one is definitely earns a Squid® Recommendation...

I thought Pans Labyrinth was Spanish? In either case the movie was an amazing work of visual effects. (not computer effects necessarily but the visual side of it was outstanding)

I think that I am getting dragged to see "PS...I Love You" tonight. I would much rather see Sweeney Todd. It is the only musical that I have ever liked.

Saw "I am Legend"...not impressed at all. Will Smith didn't pull it off... doing a movie where he is mostly the only one in it. Plus, this movie is a remake of "Omega Man" from the early 70's with Charleton Heston. He pulled it off magnificently. The movie producers/writers must be running out of ideas.

Watched Shoot em Up with my son the other night - what a fun movie to watch! Last night, we saw War with Jet Li and Jason Stratham - another great flick (see a theme developing here?)!

Boondock Saints was alright, although it was more of a good guy movie than a good movie overall.

Too much beginning not enough ending! I totally agree on the Will Smith criticism. He seems to be playing the same character over and over. He is a good actor but picks the same roles.
