I hear what you guys are saying. The only reason I posted anything at all is, because Jumpin John in not here to rebut. I don't think I was being too harsh. But if I was... sorry. That certainly was not my intention.

And I would love to change my avatar back. But is says that I can not use my old avatar due to dimensions... however, the picture is well within the guidelines. I don't get it.

I didn't mean it to be insulting. That man had family and friends just like the rest of us. People mourned him. I know how I would feel having known him. Those things alone are enough to make me uncomfortable watching it. One of the provided software options is to turn off avatars, I exercised that option. Its the avatar itself I object to, for the reasons stated above.

I don't know the user who chose that avatar, I object to the avatar itself. For the reasons stated above.

That man was an actor and it is all special effects. It is not real.

That being said the reason some are upset with your post is that there was no need to tell us what you were doing or why. You are free to turn off and on avatars as you see fit. Having only been here for a few days telling us that you were and why seemed inflammatory. This is a tight group that will welcome anyone in as long as they conduct themselves properly.

Remember you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

My experience with boards like this is that there is alot of discussion about avatars, whole threads about them, people expect you to notice and comment on them. I would reather just upfront tell that I had them turned off rather than have people think I was ignoring them. And if I have hurt my first impression with the group, thats ok with me, I need my approval first.

BuMP--I feel if you don't like to see something here then do as you were going to do and block the Avitars (my.02c) That said the thread was not necessary and might have offended other people here with your opinion as if directed at that individual.
