I turned off avatars so ...
If there is a reference in a discussion that needs avatars to be seen to get it, I won't. While I find most avatars entertaining, watching a human beings head explode ruins my mood for polite chat (as well as my appetite) so I turned avatars off.

I wonder of the intentions of a brand new member entering the forum and then taking an insulting shot at one of the most generous and helpful members on the site. I don't know if you noticed, but Jumpin Johnny is one of the CL Mentors and a Statesman. Hopefully your not as bothered by his avatar as you stated. After all, it's just a avatar. What could possibly be gained by making such a statement?

To each his or her own I say. If you want to turn off avatars, please go right ahead. No one is making anyone do anything on CL. I can say that perhaps we all need to give each other the benefit of the doubt, especially if you/we don't know each other well enough. My 2¢.

Calm down brother Boba...

as this forum expands, we need to be a little more sensitive towards new members...one thing that is tough is that the written word is left to interpretation...I personally didn't take it as an insulting shot...but rather a statement of facts.

Some people take offense for different reasons...maybe personal ones, or personal experiences...
