So I love the original series and I am looking forward to the NBC movie. I have an account on Hulu.com and they have Team Knight Rider on here. I was so excited when I heard about it when it was first released. Watching it again I realize why it was cancelled. It was just bad. I think the writers did not watch the original. I also noticed that this series uses all Ford vehicles and the new KITT is a Ford Mustang, man I hope that is not a bad omen.

February 17th will tell us.

I guess I am biased that they didn't use a Firebird or even a Camero. The only logical thing I can come up with was they did it like that since Chevy got Bumble Bee in the Transformers and that model is not out yet.

So I watched the movie/pilot last night and wanted to share my thoughts.

Val Kimer as the voice: BAH bad bad. KITT sounded to monotone. I hope they replace him if it goes to a series.

KITT: I am ok with the Mustang, the enhancements reminded me of the show Viper where it morphed. The interior, not much changed. The steering wheel was similar to the original, and then they had this panel where you saw an audio wave for the voice and other options. Could have done a bit more.

Bruce Davidson as the inventor: Great casting job. I can buy that.

Theme Music: At first I liked it, but then it got some strange rock n roll thing going and lost the original feel.

FORD: Holy crap, should they have named it FORD: Knight Rider. Many commercials from them, and most of the other cars where Fords. They did a STUPID Michael/KITT set of 4 commercials with the Focus. Too much.

Overall feel: The story was decent, most of the characters were good, the Hoff had a brief cameo and that was fine. There are some continuity issues with the other movie. What is the current time frame? Seems to be before Knight Rider 2000 and the original KITT was still around.

I think it can be a good relaunch, but we will see what they do.

Oh they guy who designed the new KITT (what design) was the same jack ass who screwed up the Batmobile in Batman and Robin. He is the Dark Knight, not the Flashy Knight.

I predict a quick end to this series. No originality anymore in the writers. Honestly did we really miss them when they were on strike?

I've been hooked on this network for the past year. Even the presidential election coverage is refreshing and new.

I was disappointed. Michael Knight was kind of the Lone Ranger with Kitt as Tonto. The new show has too many characters and the relationships are too complicated. The car should be a main character along with the lead. Having the car hacked by the bad guys in the first episode was not a good thing.

How the heck do you hack KITT? The original they had to replace a board to get control of KITT. So this time they want to give the lead a female companion. Michael Knight was like Captain Kirk, new girl in a new city. I remember they added RC3 to the last season of the show. They replaced the semi with an airplane! The semi was SWEET!

I think if you are going to remake a show, WATCH the original. There is a reason why people loved it the first time.

I watched it because I have an interest in the car.

I got it out of my blood with that first episode. As far as I'm concerned, it was terrible! But I wasn't much of a fan of the original series.

As for the design of the car, it's pretty much a stock GT500KR.

I think the series will go away quickly.

Well this explains a lot.

Don't know. All I can tell you is if you look at the basic KITT car and you look at a GT500KR, they are very similar with not a whole lot of modification. There are a couple of different versions. I think there's an "attack" version and something else (high speed cruise, perhaps.) Maybe that's what they are talking about, but aside from the lights for the fancy light shows, most of the parts on those versions are available as after market parts.

By the way, the cars used for the show are not true GT500KR's. They are Mustang GT's made up to look like one. I read somewhere that they are automatics because the stars of the show can't drive a stick shift. Go figure!
