Looks fake to me. The old hold the fish way up close to the camera trick. I think about 12 ft tail and all is max.
Besides, how could you walk that close to that big of a lizard without looking at it?

To me, the head just does not look proportional to the body.
Seems too big for that gator body.

The tail is curved up.... why?

The lowest portion of the tail is not touching the ground AND THE SHADOW of the sheriff walking by is not interrupted by the tail nor is their a shadow from the gator where there should be.

Didn't think it to be true as it is usually crocks that get that big.
Gators are usually much smaller.

I was living in Melbourne for 5 months this time last year on a job. I drove over to the Cape a couple of times and saw 2-3 in the 7' -8' range swimming in the canals and basking in the sun. One of the people in the gift shop said there's a 16' one on the Cape that they have seen periodically. Me personally, I'm not going to stop and measure.......
