My camera...

she fall down and go "boom" sometime this week. I've only had her for 2 weeks and my digital camera somehow (I'm thinking 10 year old son) the LCD display got smashed. And I even remembered to take it to AG Cigar for the Padron Event at AG Cigars in Stockbridge after work.

Man, what a bummer. How am I gonna be able to fix/replace this? :mumbles:

That is frustrating. One avenue to try would be to go onto the camera manufacturer's website, and if they have a forum, explain that the camera display is broken and ask how to get it fixed. In a lot of cases, if you go to the trouble of talking to them, they will help you out. Good luck!

I had a digital camera I really liked that I took with me all the time. It was an Olympus and it took great pictures and even had a IR remote control and the capability of doing slideshows to your TV. I ended up ruining that camera (with a lot of help from Rosie). My new one is smaller and easier to carry around with me, but it doesn't have any of those cool features.

I am so totally paranoid when it comes to my camera. The only time it comes out of the padded bag is when I'm shooting or downloading pictures, and then it goes right back. JR has a good thought checking with the manufacturer. You might also check a local camera shop (Wolf Camera here) and see what they say. Unfortunately sometimes the repair can cost more than a replacement.

Good luck!

Definitely. I was hoping they would just replace it as a goodwill gesture. Some companies are good that way.

Sucks to hear about your loss! I am always breaking stuff. The more expensive it is the more likely it is that I'll drop it.

I have a friend who gets autographs for a hobby/living. He'd goes to all the sporting events and clubs and hangs out at hotels stalking these people. He sells the autographs on ebay so he takes pictures of the celebrities while they sign the items that he'll be selling.

He has a digital camera. But he was paranoid about breaking it. He buys disposable cameras. He takes pictures and gets them developed. Then he'll take a digital picture of the printed picture for posting on his auctions!

Seems like a few extra steps that could be skipped to save some time and effort... but he hasn't broken his digital camera He's spent much more in buying disposables and getting the pictures developed... but we won't go there!

I emailed Olympus last night, so I'm hoping to hear back from them in the next few days. I just hate that I only had this one for two months and this happened. I guess I'll have to pony up for a better camera case this time!

Oh, well, at least the Padron Event went well, even if I could not take a picture of Cassandra Padron. Good thing too. Even though she is majoring in Pre-Med, I'm still old enough to be her father!
