At least part of the problem is that the media keeps reporting these things and making such a big deal out of them, that it plants the seed of the idea into some young minds, and thereby creates a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Not diminishing the other points about bad parenting, though. Far too many parents just roll over and let the government, schools and TV take care of their kids. Bad mojo, that.

My dad raised me by himself from the time I was 2 till about 10, give or take, before he married my first stepmother. Who turned out to be an evil bitch, and they were divorced by the time I was 13. I admit, I may be a fluke, but all I'm saying is that all things can be overcome.

I'm 45 and thats what they said about my graduating class in high school in 1978.

Don't let it get to you, there is always a segment of every generation that fits this description.

I don't see how you can lump all those bad things into one whole generation and say the whole generation will turn out that way or is that way. Of course there will be some bad apples in a whole generation and then the media beats a dead horse with it. Just deal with it and be glad you're not that person in the press.

I know plenty of potheads. I tried it. I can count on 2 hands the number of times I've been high. I enjoyed it, and if it were legal, I'd probably smoke on weekends. But I stopped because I knew I enjoyed it too much, and I could see it becoming a big part of my life. I didn't like that picture.

But, I do see a big problem with kids of my generation. I call them kids because they're immature, for the most part. I feel like I was born 10-15 years too late, in regards to society. I identify more with older folks like my dad, or some of my professors.. or hell, REALLY old people like SeanGAR and Da Klugs!

I dislike a large part of my generation for their decayed morals, lack of drive, and deficient work ethic. What I dislike even more, however, is being lumped in with the rest of these jackasses, just because I'm young-ish. Sure, I'm 20 years old (at least, I will be in a month), I have longer hair, and I have piercings. I'm automatically a bad person. The motorcycle forum I'm a part of had a big debate about "long haired freaks with stuff in their faces"... Of course when I jumped in and said "Hey, wait, I've been a contributing member here for almost a year, but here's my picture!" and showed them myself... the debate died. Nobody had anything else to say.

Ok, sorry, that was a tangential rant.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that most of my generation sucks, but don't lump us all in with them!

I'll come down now..
i agree lumi!

Re: WTF Are they Thinking II, III, IV

Bad parenting is the cause no this video game bs. and also it isnt just our generation. Look back and youll see many generations were the same. The unfortunate thing is that Our generation is the first to be as widely media and in the bad news is good news mindset so unfortuantly you hear more about it. and no Ill give you the school shootings but thats the parenting.
