Crappy Bad Sad News!!

Didn't read the entire thread....

but my girlfriend and I had a similar fight about cigar smoking the other day. It sucks. I know moderation is important and I am for it, but her idea of moderation is a cigar every other month.

She is trying her best... lol I am smoking about 3 days a week and trying to do it on days we do not see each other much anyways and she is being pretty cool. She still ahtes that i do it and that may never change. I just would like to get to a point where i could burn one while grilling out and she sit out and chill with me. For now i will take what i got as I am smoking and building my collection.

I'm sorry to hear about her dislike of cigars. I can understand (kinda) a nonsmoker's point of view on smoking. Sometimes it stinks. However, it seems there should be some respect towards you as a man to make your own decisions. I'm sure there are things (every woman has something) that drives you crazy, but that's the way people are. Take the good with the bad. What's the worst that she could do? Get mad? Her hounding you and making you upset doesn't seem to bother her too much to make you stop doing something you enjoy. Seems a little one sided and selfish. That being said, I don't know either of you, but I do know human nature and I believe that there is more to it than smoking. This will be a great victory for her. That sounds a little harsh, but only one person in the house can have the final say. If it's her this time, it'll be her a lot more down the road. That's a really sad situation.

Isn't there a psychologist in the room?

I just saw this thread and didnt read any of the responses but there are things in a relationship that you just have to deal with. My fiance is an orthodontist and is crazy about oral health (insert joke here) She doesnt LOVE that I smoke cigars but when I explain to her how relaxing it is to me and that it is a important hobby of mine she realizes that she shouldnt take that away from me.

It is the same thing with me playing hockey and golf 2 to 3 times a week. She knows that hockey is my life. She would never ask me to quit playing hockey or golf. Sure, she would rather I spend my time doing something with her but she knows it is completely unfair to ask me to stop doing things that I enjoy most.

I would stronly suggest making her to come to some sort of compromise because if you give in now, she is going to ask you to give up something else you love down the road.

wow, what a thread. sometimes i hate being a rep. I can't beleave i missed this thread also. My wife doesn't like my breathe when i smoke. Yes i'm a rep and she doesn't like cigar smoke. My darling wife will hang with the boys at my B&M. on my days off when we spend time together i wont smoke. we have made the compermized. thats what a marraige is all about.
