Go easy on the snakes (depending on the type). I have a python (just under 3') and he is awesome, friendly and good with kids..... This one is not mine, but this is what he looks like.

My snake eats live rats - nothing bigger....However, I have seen ones that could easily eat cats, dogs and small children - those can join the fire as far I'm concerned. I made sure when I first got him to get a snake that would get HUGE!! Mine is at its max size.
