Job update...
Well guys it has been about a month since I started my teaching career and so far so good. It is the third week of school and after getting less than what I expected from the homework assignments I was dreading the first test. Well the little devils surprised me and proved that they were listening in class not just drawing in their trapper keepers. I feel like the proud father of 212 middle-schoolers <--is that even a real word. Well not all passed but the most of those who didn't were from my special population so I get time to reteach them and give them a second chance. I hate to be this optimistic this early in the school year but so far this is the best job I have ever had and i have had two good ones in the last 10 years. I am even thinking of posting weekly my updates to give me a place to vent and brag on some of the best kids who would normally not be given a chance I have ever meet. The downside is that I don't get to post here that often anymore and I haven't had time for a cigar in three week. I do have one picked out for this weekend though.

That is awesome. I remember my first year. It amazes you. Just when you think they aren't listening, bang. They do great. Congrats and enjoy the long career.

Keep up the good work. Kudos to you as teaching is a passion and that is something I could not ever do at that level.
