Angry Neighbors Suck!!!!

So, I'm sitting in my living room of my apartment and happen to look over at the dining room and saw a puddle of water under my table. I thought maybe the cats knocked something over, then realized that there was nothing for them to knock over. I open my pantry closet and the entire floor is flooded! I have water all over the place, everything on the floor is soaked and now I have water coming over up under the carpets.

I go an grab the maintenance guys and they casualy say, "Oh, the apartment behind you is flooded...it must be coming over from there." as if it was no big deal! You'ld have thought she would have the courtesy to come over and let me know. I mean, where did she think the water was going to go???

Thankfully it was just cleaned up with a mop and some towels. The floors in the dining room are tile and it was the edge of the carpet at the start of the hallway that was wet. Nothing was damaged in terms of merchandise, but some boxes that was holding stuff are done for.

I wonder if the apartment management would get pissed off if I put silicon down along the baseboard....

Not wanting to add fuel to the fire....but.....You might want to suggest to the apartment people to get some WDR (water damage restoration) people over to check it out. You have no idea the complications that can arise from this. Mold is NOT a fun thing to have growing in the walls! Much cheaper to catch it NOW and have it properly dried out by trained and certified technicians.

HAAA! Good thing! I don't think they'd have a problem with you sealing up the base of the walls. It'd be improving the place, and hell, they probably won't even notice! Glad you didn't have any real damage!

Been there but it came through the ceiling from a disconnected icemaker hose with no shut-off. Ending up cutting a hole in the screen and shoving the hose out the window until they could get it shut off. Gotta love college hell-holes.
