Sign of the times, I guess...
I'd heard much about a new cigar bar in Houston called "Lord Byron's". I finally took some time off from work, so I made Lord Byron's a place to visit this week.
Well, I went by there today and there was a note from the landlord posted on the door stating (paraphrased) that they could reopen once all past due rent has been paid and it was dated October 30th. My guess is this is related to the economic hole America and the rest of the globe is in right now. I was really looking forward to have a smoke there. Oh well, maybe it'll reopen soon!

I guess I should have made a post about it closing. Don't know if it will ever open back under the same owner. But man its a freaking nice decked out bar, plus has a kitchen! I can't see it not opening back at all as some kind of bar, its to nice!

Yeah, I don't think that it was the necessarily the economics. I think that this was a very nice bar, but it really wasn't a cigar bar. The ash trays on the table were for cigs not gars. The only ash trays that fit the cigars were the ones that Rhonda and Troy gave the owner as a gift.
The place was very nice, but not enough ventilation. We were there at the Grand Opening and the Fire Dept. came out because the Alarms kept going off. Like Frank said, I can't see it not opening up as some kind of bar in the future. |
