Socialist Tom Brokaw wants Obama to raise gas to $4/gallon

On Meet the Press this past Sunday, host Tom Brokaw suggested to President-Elect Obama that he raise gas taxes so that the price at the pump is always $4/gallon, with the government keeping the excess. Brokaw is nothing more than an elitist liberal. He is millionaire several times over. Of course $4/gallon for gas to him is like dropping a quarter into a bubble gum machine. To the average Joe $/gallon for gas is a real hardship. In my opinion, Brokaw needs to be fired for evening making such a stupid comment!

Here's a commentary on the show from a website I found:

With Gas Prices Down Brokaw Wants To Tax Them To $4 A Gallon

If you needed any more proof that liberal media members don't give a darn about the state of the economy, or the American people, and instead just want to raise taxes, you got it Sunday when Tom Brokaw advocated gas prices, which have plummeted recently, be kept at $4 a gallon with the government keeping the added cost.

Coming just two days after it was announced that America lost over 500,000 jobs in November, Brokaw, in what could be his last performance as "Meet the Press" host, actually asked Barack Obama why taxes shouldn't be dramatically raised on gasoline with revenues to be spent on alternative energy, and to send a signal that folks won't be able to "just fill up [their] tank for 20 bucks anymore."

This came in response to president-elect Obama uttering another disturbingly socialist statement that should make clearer his spread the wealth motives.

It's not the first time I've heard this idea. It is ludicrous.. I give Obama one good year-year and a half before the wheels start falling off.

I'm not being a nay-sayer, either. The fact is he has been given a very unstable "bomb" just waiting to explode, or implode as the case may be.

When it was $4 a gallon, the press screamed about excessive profits for the oil companies. Now that it is almost $1 a gallon, they want that money instead. Hypocrites.

I don't want to have to worry about buying a gallon of milk or a gallon of gas.

I do have one question for all of you who have made these comments. How many of you have ever put on the uniform and served your country, because if you haven't then QUIT YOUR ULTRA RIGHT WING BULL SHIT AND SHUT THE **** UP. The past several years we have let the executives of major corporations dictate the policy and standards of living to all of us. Corporate millionairres who rape their companies and then bail out with their golden parachutes. So maybe it is time to reel in some of those fat ****s and try to stabilize this country that I so proudly serve.

Has anyone else noticed that when gas prices were high there were gasoline and delivery surcharges on many things....

Now that gasoline is down to, and I saw it this AM at $1.38 a gallon, they haven't discontinued the surcharges at all...

I have started making note of the companies that do this and have stopped doing business with them as long as that practice continues...

Robert

Why all of the vitriol? Just some folks giving their opinion is all... not a reason to get irate. As for your assertion that folks can't have an opinion until they serve is absurd. I thank God daily for the brave men and women who have and do serve our country each day... but that does not make the opinion of civilians less valid. Without the tax dollars generated by those unworthy civilians the government cannot afford to fight in foreign lands to protect us here in the US.

It seems we are in this together, we should figure on getting along huh?

So you feel I'm not allowed to have an opinion because I'm a conservative, or I'm not allowed to have an opinion because I did not serve in the military? It is hard to tell, what about my friends who are VERY conservative and have served in the military, are they allowed to have one? Should non combatants in the military be allowed to have an opinion?

Really though, I do believe this is why they don't like political posts on the message board, some people just can't have a civilized conversation on a topic like this without loosing their temper.

Regardless and thankfully, I am allowed to have an opinion, my one voice amongst millions. Furthermore, thanks to the service that people like yourself have given to the country, I'm even allowed to say it out loud, write it down or share it with friends on a message board.

My main point is that everyone loves to b!tch about what all is going on and pointing fingers instead of helping find solutions to the issues at hand. Why not give Obama a chance, he may fail, he may not. A lot of the same things were said about Roosevelt when he took office, but things did improve some, not all but some. The time of pointing and blaming is over, we need to come together as a nation and heal ourselves or we are certainly headed down a very dark and unsure road.
