frick, a new dog? really?

well... my two dogs went nuts barking out the window today....

i walk over and what do i see? three stays making their way down our ditch line.

at first i didnt think anything of it, and started to turn away, then noticed as they came closer they all seemed pretty young. all 3 seemed to be collarless pups, probably got loose from somebodys house.

i kenneled my dogs up and stepped outside, they almost got past my house, and i didnt think they were going to turn around, but one of them heard me calling and came running up with a half friendly half scared wag of his tail.

when he finally got close enough to touch he was literally a solid sheet of ice on his fur, with cracks in it here and there from where he had moved. he was obviously freezing, and pretty dirty.

I called for the other two dogs, but they refused to come any closer than 20 yards.

i took the little guy in the garage, turned on the torpedo heater, which he imediately ran to and sat in front of. brought out a towel and wiped him down as the ice melted. right now he's in the living room getting to know my two other dogs...

a friend told us of an older gentlemen who's dog dies, his family bought him another pup, and it was hit by a car and killed only a week later. She's going to see if that man would like this dog, and if not, well i'm probably going to keep him.

he's a very docile guy who's mostly only slept since bringing him in. i'm going to let him out right now, then give him a bath to get cleaned up.

any name ideas if i end up getting to keep him?

*pics are on my blog*

seems to be a retriever/lab mix. beautiful golden coat.

my american bulldog seems fairly pissed that he isnt in a playfull mood right now, i would say he's pretty worn out from being outside for at least a couple days from the looks of it. she just doesnt understand why he wont get up and play with her! hahahaha

Hahahaha. Yeah, I just checked out the pictures. She's a very good looking dog. Hopefully you find her a good home or are able to keep her!

Yea, I hear ya. Sad. He's a good looking dog.

My wife and I are our family's animal dumping grounds. I have my sisters GSP that she had to give up when she moved, my brother's Springer Spaniel he had to give up when he had a baby and my brother in law's Siamese cat that hated him so much the cat stopped eating. So I feel you on the "another dog" sentiment.

Twasn't me. I've been on a bit of a hiatus from the bombing.

fair... and yea... if i could live life without consequence i would go out and buy 50 puppies (kind of like that scene from family guy!)

but sadly i cant, and taking on another dog may be a small bit of stress, but i feel much more comfy keeping it than sending it to the pound to have them decide its fate.

its still just laying around recouping, not wanting to do much. i also think its starting to realize his two companions may not be coming back anytime soon.
