During the summer months (and sometimes winter too), My crew and I operate (read set up, and shoot off) fireworks displays. I have an ATF permit for Low Explosives, and am a subcontractor for a Grand World Champion fireworks company here in New Jersey.
I know it sounds like a lot of fun, but it is hard work and dangerous. The photo shows a helper tieing the fuses for a finale display at the end of the show. On the left are the 2 1/2 inch color shells, and going accross to the right are various color+ salute shells. Behind them is a rack of 4 inch shells, a rack of 5 inch shells, and two 6 inch shells. These will go off 'over' the smaller shells. There are then 40 3 inch titanium salutes to finish the show.
All this goes off very fast as the fuses are black powder. One or two guys will walk along the finale as it is firing to make sure if a fuse goes out, or is pulled away from the shell, he will step in with a road flare and relight the finale so there is seamless firing.
The video shows a finale firing, over a small lake. On the other side of the lake is a carnival with rides etc. Watching the video you will see the man walking along the finale as it is going off.
WATCH OUT!!! At the end of the video, my daughter (operating the camera) screams. Be warned.
Enjoy the video!!!
