I just sent the hospital an email telling them I was ashamed to have them in my country.

I'm sure I'll get no response at all.

Never ceases to amaze me what garbage makes it thru when it comes to the American Flag and how some will trample all over it and then want to wrap themselves in it when THEIR rights are trampled on,,,,,WTH. From what I understand the admins have let her keep the flag up because of the public uproar. duhhhhh

A dissenting opinion

I think the article linked by the OP illustrates the silliness of political correctness in America. It truly is PC run amok. My old boss hung an American flag in his office. His boss hung a Texas flag in his office. Neither offended me nor anyone else in our office.

However, there have been some anti-immigrant comments made in this thread. I have an immigrant in my family whom I love dearly so I must speak out. Whatever happened to the America of "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"? Why so much hatred toward people of different cultures and religions?

The America I love celebrates diversity. Maybe I'm just a "hippie liberal".

Besides, aren't most of us descendents of immigrants? I certainly can't trace my lineage back to any Native American tribe.

Not to pick on you in2xshp, but there was a time when the Irish were hated in this country. From "Irish Americans during the 19th Century": "The Chicago Post wrote, "The Irish fill our prisons, our poor houses...Scratch a convict or a pauper, and the chances are that you tickle the skin of an Irish Catholic. Putting them on a boat and sending them home would end crime in this country."

I don't quite understand that hospital. Most employers would deal with an employee who complains about something like an American flag hanging in someone's office as a non productive employee. It makes me wonder where our health care dollars are going if that is the kind of crap health care employees are concerning themselves with and the employer supports it.

The last time I saw a sign saying, "Celebrate Diversity", was in a gay pride parade, carried by a guy wearing an American flag as a diaper. Left a rather bad taste in my mouth.

Fly the flag. Fly it high and proudly... while we still can.

Re: This country is going to hell

I wasn't born in the United States nor am I a US citizen. But I have the privilege to serve my adopted country in the United States Marine Corp. I do intend on getting my U.S. citizenship as soon as my wallet permits, but at this time I'm way too strapped for cash.

What is the reason that you think the military doesn't allow people not born in the U.S. serve? (i'm not trying to start a fight, I just want to know what this reason might be)

The military doesn't allow non-U.S. citizens to serve as officers but I believe anyone who loves this country should be allowed to serve in the military.

Don, if you stand on that wall for me, you are my friend and comrade. Carry on, Marine. Semper Fidelis

Re: This country is going to hell

Other than the flag issue I can see the country going to hell in a number of ways not the least being the ramblings by the commander and chief. By the way we are not a Christian Country but we are one of the largest Muslim countries. WTH? Wonder how the boys over fighting in the Afganistan and Iraq feel about that one? I am wondering when the Jewish owned T.V. stations are going to come to reality and stop treating this guy with kid gloves.

You went to a gay pride parade and left with a bad taste in your mouth????

OK, I admit that was a cheap shot. But I just don't get the hate going on in this thread.

Re: This country is going to hell

Guys this thread is getting pointless with back and forth bickering. We could go on and on about who is right and who is wrong. I am locking this thread up.
