weedeater opinion
I know- no body wants to think about yard but I am trying to switch from my gas weedeater to an electric--need something a little lighter to lug around
looking at a Troy Bilt with a lithium battery or a Black & decker model that has 2 batteries with it ( think they call it the grass hog) anyway anybody with thoughts or experience with either model or thoughts about any other brand--any comments appreciated ![]() |

Re: weedeater opinion
If you have some serious weeds to whack stay with gas buy a Shindaiwa. Acre after acre, year after year it has not failed. Get a "Speed Feed" head. Shindaiwa | Products | Trimmers & Brushcutters
I am sure you will do the right thing ![]()

Re: weedeater opinion
I have a Black & Decker and it works great but i have a small yard so its fine. For a larger yard you cant beat gas. Stihl makes the best equipment IMO. We have one of the smaller ones and its got loads of power and is light weight. Its only like $140.

Re: weedeater opinion
Heard the electric sucks, but if you don't mind sticking with gas: huscavarna (spelling?) is very light weight and durable; others that I've used are shindowoa (spelling) and STIHL---little heavier, but I liked them better (with 15+ years lawn maintenance experience).

Re: weedeater opinion
Man dont go to electric. I tired to this past year and I couldnt do it. Not enough power for me. I have a larger yard and it took a long time to trim.
If you have a smaller yard electric may be good. Just dont get a cheaper one. I have heard too many bad things.

not sure which way to go, might look at a Stihl gas that is supposed to be light weight |

Re: weedeater opinion
I have one of those Stihl units with interchangeable attachments. Have the string and the blade and a tiller attachment. It surprised me how well the tiller works. I agree on the electrics, no power.

Your best bet is to go with a Hippie, I hear they eat nothing but weed and do it for free.

Re: weedeater opinion
When I had a large yard I had a gas-powered unit, and it was just the trick. Now that I have a desert-sized lawn (about 10'X10') I use a Black and Decker electric. Cordless electric mower, too. That way I don't have to store gas in the garage, have no worries about things not starting and I can literally mow the lawn at midnight if the occasion calls for it.

Re: weedeater opinion
STIHL Last cutter you will ever have to buy. I have 30+ acres that I keep cleaned up. Between the Kubota tractor and my Stihl chain saw and weed whacker we get the job done easily.
If You find weedeaters too heavy...... try using a PROPERLY set up over the shoulder sling. Balances the weight and your lifting zero wt......... Simply manuevering the cutter head back and forth. FN in MT |
