Poll; Do you use online yellowpages or the book?

I'm working on my advertising for the next year and I am trying to decide If I should spend extra money for "online" advertising.

If you do use online YellowPages will you be so kind as to tell me which service you use?

YellowBook.com , AT&T.com or?

Sometimes I look online and sometimes I look in the book. When I look online I use yellowbook.

When seeking out a new service or company, online is usually my first step. My yellowpage book usually just collects dust.

I'll use whichever one is handy at the time - which is usually on-line, I use the first one that comes up when I search "yellow pages" on yahoo and that is yellowpages.com. I will say that I did this a year or so ago at my last job and we did get quite a bit more business with the online ad than we did previously with just the "real" phonebook (we try and track this, but people don't always remember how they heard about us). I don't think we had to pay extra though, I'm pretty sure the cost of the ad included the on-line as well.

I usually am on Google Maps, either on my Blackberry, or on the computer. If I can't find a business and contact info there, then I just search the Web in general for the business name, see what results I get.

When I do use online directory it's always the Real Yellow Pages Yellow Pages Local Directory - YELLOWPAGES.COM. As much as I cant' stand ATT, Bapco was kick ass for years. Then ATT took them over, so who knows. But, still better and more accurate than the Yellowbook and some other fly-by-night online directories.

Because so many people Google a local business these d
ays, either on mobile devices or Map programs, I'd save your $ on an Ad in any paid directory. Honestly.

I don't remeber the last time I didnt' find what I wanted on Google Maps, that I had to go to a directory service to find.

I usually just type the business name and city into Google, but I believe one of the higher rated results is usually from yellowpages.com

Definetly Online... It's funny as I keep the actual books, but never use them...

I'd say I use Google Maps about 99% of the time. I like not only the listing of businesses for my search, but also where they are in relation to my location on the map

I search using Google anytime I need a business location or a phone number.

Also, if it's a business that I'd like to know some 'track record' about the customer reviews help a lot. We also have a local site in Atlanta called Kudzu.com that is very popular.
