Re: Living with Back Pain

I have degenerative disk disease in my lower back. If I sit or stand for too long I my lower back tightens up and I start to have spasms. Generally the pain level stays around a 4 out of 10, but when it locks up, the pain is a 100!

I take a lot of Lortab for pain and Soma for the spasms and it's a muscle relaxer. They help 1/2 the time, but again, if it locks up, I go to the hospital and they give me dolada, morphine doesn't even help.

I am seriously considering surgery. Going to my doctor next week to get a referral....

Re: Living with Back Pain

I don't have back pain, (Yet at least), but my Fiancé has four Discs in here lower back that have DDD (Degenerative Disc Disease) and one is slightly herniated. She is only 28 and once or twice a year has spasm and complication that brings me to tears because she is in so much pain. She's a trooper though.
Good thing to help that all her docs and trainers preach strengthening your core to help stabilize everything. It’s more of a preventative measure than a cure. There are a lot of exercises everyone can do, pain or not, to stabilize to prevent injury or further pain spikes. She currently swims a few times a week and hasn't had an outbreak yet.

I can totally empathise with everyone with back pain. Of course i have a pain in my neck that only subsizdes when I leave the house.....

Re: Living with Back Pain

I have hip pains that are unbearable. Theres days I've cried because the pain was so bad. Theres days I cant even stand up straight, it takes about 10 steps for me to start walking somewhat normal (like warming up my hip I guess). I had to quit my job because it was so bad. Looking into getting a MRI and god who knows how much that will cost with my $2,000 deductible and 23% I still haft to pay on top of that.
