Moving From NorCAL to SoCAL!!!

Well I was offered a job in Southern California. They want me to start Aug 1st. So I will have to relocate with in the next two weeks. I live in San Jose CA now. I'm looking at the Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Huntington beach area. may be even Santa Anna. Any one know what it's like there? I've never been to So Cal. I want to make sure that I'm not looking for an apartment in the Ghetto.
Any help would be GREAT!!!!
Thanks

Re: Moving From NorCAL to SoCAL!!!

Lucky man! SoCal's awesome. And I'm not biased at all. I've lived her my entire life (minus 4 years of high school up closer by you).

Newport Beach & Laguna Beach are very nice and very expensive but if you can find something that doesn't require 99% of your new job's income, do it!

Costa Mesa & Irvine a little farther in are still close enough to Newport and more affordable. I'd probably choose Irvine over Santa Ana; seems nicer.

Huntington Beach is good too.

You really can't go wrong with those areas.

I'm a bit farther north in Palos Verdes so our hangout is Redondo Beach & Hermosa Beach and we love 'em.

Congrats on the new job! And good luck with the move.

Thanks for the info. I never really looked at Irvine. I'll be sure and check it out.

Where is your new job located? I don't think you are going to like Santa Ana much. I would recomend Costa Mesa first then Irvine and HB as far as cost goes. Newport is very pricey.

Re: Moving From NorCAL to SoCAL!!!

Well the office is in Santa Anna. However most of my work will be on the road.with little need to be near the office after training is complete. So where I end up isn't all that important but somewhere I can get to everything with relative ease would be nice. I'll be working as far north as Santa Monica, as far east as Riverside. One of the other guys I will be working with lives in Long Beach. he said that works out well for him. I thought that long beach was the ghetto?

Certian parts of Long Beach is ghetto but you also have a very nice and expensive side as well. Like 2nd street and Down Town Long Beach which has great night life. Santa Ana is Ghetto. The places I mentioned above are fairly close to the beach and great night life. Good luck in your search.

Yep, Paul's right....the LBC (Long Beach City) has changed A LOT in the last 10 years. There are some really great parts. Belmont Shores in Long Beach is also a really great spot, as is Naples.
