guess what dumdum did last night

So Im loading the dishwasher with just a couple left over dishes that were in the sink, and dumdum didn't notice a couple of them had quit a bit of liquid dish soap still in them. I ran the cycle and within a minute or so started hearing kind of a straining of the motor didn't sound like normal, so I opened the door and out flows bubbles YAY!!! I grab some towels, scoop out all the bubbles, throw in some ice cubes, salt, vegetable oil, and vinegar. let it sit overnight to neutralize the soap. and ran the cycle in the morning and all was ok. I was kind of relieved it was that easy to fix,s still kind of a pain but, wow that never happened to me before. I learned my lesson.

You can't be that dumb it you knew all this crap would neutralize soap. I would have just been standing around cursing up a storm.

Re: guess what dumdum did last night

When I was a kid, my cousin put dish soap in the reserve of the dish washer. We left as it ran (it was my mom, aunt, two sisters and 3 cousins). When we got back to the house the whole kitchen was full of soap suds (bubbles) up to mid thigh on the grown ups LOL. Was one of the funnest things I have ever seen!

Joe,

I know how you feel. You shouldn't drive while intoxicated nor do dishes under the influence either.
One time I put liquid dish soap instead of dishwasher soap in by mistake and went to bed.
Yes, it was ugly!

Re: guess what dumdum did last night

HAHA great stories, I'm definitely glad I was there when it happened and didn't go to sleep immediately, that would have been fun to wake up to in the morning.

I was thinking the vinegar would do the neutralizing since its primarily acetic acid where the soap is a base. The other stuff like the salt and ice, was to kill the bubbles that were already in there and the oil was to hopefully stop any future bubbles from forming. not sure which part of it worked the best or didn't work at all but I think letting the ingredients sit for a few hours before running the cycles made it work.

I would have been laughing too if it wasn't me that it happened to.

Re: guess what dumdum did last night

I was cleaning a dishwasher in my first apartment, i was scrubbing and everything with dish soap. I blasted a bit more in there, and filled it with detergent, thinking more is better. did some unpacking and came back to a very large kitchen with about 2-3 feet of soap covering a 15x15 foot area, all the way up to an inch under the counters. The floors where never cleaner, and there was a permanent mark on the counters from the soap.

learned my lesson that day

Re: guess what dumdum did last night

a bottle of skunk pee or fox urine usually works wonders in an open house but those 2 are kinda one dimensional. Now add the urine and dawn and youve got a party!!! LMAO
