So I have this humidor, it has a giant picture of the Ghurka man, and quite frankly I'm tired of looking at him every day. My plan is to sand the outside of the humidor down to the bare wood, stain with a cherry finish, and then follow up with a glossy clearcoat. I'm somewhat crafty in woodworking, however I've never done anything like a humidor before and just wanted to double check my staining/etc won't bork my humidor.

Captain's Log, Stardate...today: Well as it turns out, my prized (free) humidor was less spanish cedar and more cheap chinese cardboard/particle board with cedar panels glued to the inside. I don't know about you, but sanded cardboard isn't exactly pretty when its stained, maybe I can pick up a dark cherry finish colored krylon and give it a go. Now to just hope I win that contest at CI.

I always suspected Gurkha cigars were made of cardboard I didn't think their Humis were too.
