The Layoff Rant thread!

i know there have been other threads on here about layoffs.
who else is still off or severely cut?

i have been laid off since jan. and now my B.A. is simply telling people to have a nice christmas and hanging up.
something has got to give and soon!

i have been okay with this layoff but now it has gone way to far and i think i am gonna snap. sorry all, i just had to rant and get it out of my system.

please if you are off or severely cut hours at work. vent it here and maybe we can help counsel each other.

I haven't actually been laid off, but I just graduated from college and I'm still looking for work.

I had found a job opening at a place that was a 5 minute walk from my apartment and was an almost perfect match for my skills (Computer Science, specifically website quality assurance). I waited for a couple weeks for an interview, she was saying she was having trouble scheduling the people there for a meeting. I finally got another email back last week saying they had interviewed their top candidate and offered them the job the same day. I was mad, I didn't even get a chance to interview and they strung me along for like 2 weeks.

I have been at my job over 7 years and at this location that is considered an "old timer". A few months ago senior management came to us managers and said "if we can cut our hours to 38hrs a week and our part-timers down to 12-15 a week we won't lay anyone off till atleast september. No problem, I got my 38hrs for two weeks, cut my part-timer's time back and BOOM! They lay-off EIGHT PEOPLE! Not two weeks after they said they wouldn't lay off until 2-3 MONTHS and that didn't even last 2-3 WEEKS! What a load of BULLJIVE! From then on in, I got my 40hrs+ because I had to catch some of the slack of the 8 that got layed off. Then ontop of that, they fired 3 or 4 more a few weeks afterwards, but they deserved it. Though they DID NOT get replaced.....

so i'm searching for a new career. yeehaw! what fun!
problem is i can't look in the field i am trained in because the union will eat me alive.
so it looks like i'm stuck with minimum wage and fast food type jobs.

i'm so ticked off, i just cannot start over at this point. i don't know what to do!

Why would they do that? Don't they want you to work?

theres no union work in my trade available. if i pursue work in my trained field i would be pursueing non union work. so they would nail me .
fines and loss of retirement moneys, etc.

off since May, Downsized after 17 years.... it can be overwhelming at times. I'm remaining prayerfull that God will open doors for me. Does this count as a rant?
