I have never been the victim of a violent crime... until now that is...

I stop at the gas station and get something to drink & start heading back home after a long day at the office and 3 hours of laying hardwood flooring for the lounge being built. Tired as heck I get a call from my neighbor that he wants a Redbull, so I bust a U and less than 30 seconds later I'm back in front of gas station... (not at a pumping station may I add, I am facing the front of the gas station parked to the left of the entrance inside)

oh... I got a voicemail, lets check it.. (sitting in my car I dial 1 to access my messages) as I listen to my mother leaving a rather emotional message, regarding a personal matter I begin to get out of my car to start walking inside but I don't, instead I walk to the corner of the gas station to finish leaving a message on her voice mail, the classic tag situation when someone call's and you call them back to also get their voice mail.

So I leave a message... as I am finishing I feel someone behind me and I turn to face them...

There's a rather large Revolver at my stomach at this point and 2 punk kids are demanding something or another but I can't really hear them as I am in a state of paralysis... Is this really happening?

It is, and I better start moving and complying or I'll be all over the place, the bulk of me with a huge bowel sputtering cavity (sorry for the graphic imagery) laying on the floor. Here's the good part of the story.

My phone does not hang up until you press the end button so the entire robbery was caught on audio not just that but they decided to take off in my car as well with my phone in his pocket recording the next 4 and a half minutes of their get away! There is a warrant for the arrest of one of the suspects but the gun man is still at large, we're hoping that one will lead to another once they are caught up with. My car was recovered yesterday and the suspects also left the gun inside the vehicle which hopefully will solidify prosecution.

Needless to say I am alive (Thank God!) They managed to get away with my phone, palm pilot, gold chain and car which had a half filled box of Opus X Coronas, my travel humidor with 15+ cigars, a few plastic cutters & torches. The moral of the story...

BE CAREFUL EVERYWHERE YOU GO!!!

The majority of us live with a sense of security because we have an SUV or live in the Hills etc... Let me clear on what I just said, I do not mean scare anyone or for you to live in fear but as a good friend once told me the line between civility and total anarchy is very thin, be aware of your surroundings stay in sight of others when dealing with money and regardless of where you live don't make the mistake of thinking that it won't happen to you.

Scary story, I always envision what I would do in that circumstance but being faced with it is a different story.

All I can say is WOW, and I am glad that you are OK......well mostly........I try to keep an eye on my surroundigns but I dont always keep track........of whats going on around me....again glad that you are safe and I hope they get the bad guys!!!

Holy Crap! I am really glad that you were unharmed and probably was a good thing that you didn't have time to think and just let them have whatever they wanted. Nothing is worth your life and sorry that you had to go thru this. In this day and age you never think that crap like this can happen to you.

Thank you for the kind words they are appreciated. I'm glad everything turned out as well as it did considering the circumstances.

I've been asking myself whether ann investment into a gun would be smart? I've been debating it with several buddies at the S&M and being a complete novice to that world any advice would be great.
