Watch ramblings
I've been checking out watch talk forum the past few days...
I've picked up a couple Wenger Swiss Army watches recently, Cigars can be expensive, but if one wants to colllect nice watches, the prices can really get up there I nerver want hundreds of watches, but having a nice variety would be fun Anyone else enjoy weatches, I have a meger assortment, no rolexs or Omega's yet.. but I find them interesting. I guess you could spend crazy money on watches, just look at some of the watches in cigar afficianado.. crazy money. But what do you guys think are good quality watches and why ones that dont break the bank... under a grand, or under 500... any cool watch forums you suggest, still very much the newbie in that area, but would like to learn. unlike cigars buying a box of 25 is out of the question. Current collection 1Citizen Eco Drive 3 Nike sport watches.. 2 that I think are pretty cool 3 Swiss Army watches....... these are my favorites. |

Re: Watch ramblings
There are a lot nice looking watches out there, but having something on my wrist always bugged me. I've just used my cell phone to tell time for the last 8-10 years. I also hate wearing any kind of jewelry too, but that's just me.

Re: Watch ramblings
I too love watches but do not invest like some of the guys here....or at least used to be here.
I own 15 watches ranging between a few Invictas, a couple Movados, a couple Crotons, a Bell & Ross, Buliva, etc. I am not at that place where I can drop 5k for a watch, but I guess it's all relative. Now if I only had a relative that would buy me an AP.

There really are a lot of nice watches out there that wont break the bank, how do you like your Bell & Ross nice watches. The Japenese are making some quality stuff, their keeping the Swiss on there toes, nothing wrong with a nice seiko, or citizen I think both are good values, and great watches. I've been looking at a few Omega's.. but i'll have to wait, the moneys just not there now. Just something to put on the wish list. Collecting nices watches makes our hobby of cigars look like a bargain. |

Re: Watch ramblings
Lost in the mists of time, when I was a po' college student, and dinosaurs ruled the Earth, the display on my uber-geek, do-everything, fancy-schmancy LCD watch kept going completely blank for hours at a time. It would gradually start to come back to life, and all the settings were still right. It took me forever to figure out what was causing it. It was the powerful magnet in the stirring machines we used in chemistry lab. I started carrying a pocket watch, and still do to this day.
I have a box of them now. Most of them are from Wal-Mart, and cost $20-45 each. They all still work, although most of them are in need of a new battery, and the uncovered one has a cracked crystal. For whatever reason, my little nephews thought my pocket watch was just about the coolest thing they had ever seen, so I'm going to give them each one this Christmas, now that they're actually old enough to tell time. Seems like just about everything has a clock on it, nowadays, so I often go several days in a row without ever needing to look at mine, but it's nice to know it's there. With a wristwatch, Time sort of haunts you. It's always right there, staring at you. Urging you, pushing you. "I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!" With a pocket watch, it just feels a lot less intrusive. It's still there, but on your terms. And I'm still just as late, of course. It's probably just some kind of psychological disorder.

Re: Watch ramblings
Love watches. Have a Seiko, Coach, and Omega Planet Ocean Big Size (45.5mm) Black on Black with the stainless bracelet. The Omega is amazing and worth every penny. For a great forum, check out www.forums.watchuseek.com
