Did I deserve this??

I'm going to do a spot of venting. Feel free to run and hide, less you are stricken.
There has been been a complete fallout of bad luck in my household the past month. I don't know who I pissed off, or what negative karma I've earned.

1st Sign. I was visiting my neighbor for a social gathering. A few beers, horseshoes, barbecue; that kinda thing. I pet his dog for a few minutes and get down on one knee to pet him. He bites my face and about takes off my top lip. Met with plastic surgeon at hospital and he fixes me up. The scar is looking good after just over a month.

2nd Sign. Two real estate deals that I was counting on to be able to eat through the winter fall through. Now I've got to scramble to not spend what little money I was able to save when the market began to turn back here.

3rd Sign. As some of you may have read before, my wife caught the H1N1 virus.

4th Sign. Wife is getting cabin fever while she is still quite sick. She steps outside to get a little fresh air, and bam! She gets stung by a yellow jacket!

5th Sign. That same evening (this past Monday) she knocks over her 7-Up onto her netbook. Fried! I took it apart and put it in a plastic bag with 6 packets of silica gel to draw out moisture. Still fried.

6th Sign. Yesterday evening while playing puff.com poker, I stand up to grab the TV remote and cRaSh! MY laptop is knocked over and the LCD screen is toast (this is a $1,900 gaming laptop mind you). Thank God a replacement screen is only $250.

Ugggggg. Maybe I will have won the lottery last night. Lets hope so.

Something really good is bound to happen with all of this crazy bad luck. I am very thankful that two of the issues I have typed about were not much more severe. The dogs bottom teeth were 2 inches from my jugular, and my wife's immune system isn't great so she was prime for complications from the swine thing. I realize that things could be and could have been much worse.

Think positive man

1st sign: your not dead and you still have a face and all that

2nd you had money to put back money so you can live and eat

3rd you wife is getting better

4th she did not get stung by 100 of them and end up in the hospital

5th you put back enough in the 2nd, supra, to buy another. (you can aslo use rice to dry things out, a little cheaper)

6th you can afford a replacement and/or maybe you have more time to do something else instead of gaming (ex. spend time w/ family, do more buss. deals, save the world)

7th you are part of a great community here and you have good gars to smoke

There is an old saying that "Bad things come in threes (or bunches)." Well, you've surpassed your quota. The good news is that GOOD things also come in three (or bunches), so congratulations in advance. Sorry, but "Shit happens." Surely, we're all with you.

By the way, you are not alone. This summer:

1. The Caddy was hit by a Mexican in Dallas with no driver's license, no insurance, and in somebody else's car. This was probably worse on him than me, but, still, it happend.

2. I tore the plastic undercovering off (well, half off) on a parking lot hole during a vacation 1200 miles from home.

3. The Escape was hit. Totaled with damage over $16,000. But, no one was hurt. Whew!

4. My mother had to go to the hospital with serious heart problems. Turned out to only be a bad medication experience.

5. The wife has/is had/having eye surgery.

6. The mother is having cataract surgery.

7. Had to move the mother closer after the hospital experience.

8. Everything I left out. That's enough.

Most important thing is your health. Sounds like your wife is on the mend (be very thankful) - and you still have your lip. Those things are most important.

Second most important thing - kill the psychotic dog that bit you.

HA! Thanks for the heartfelt responses. It really made me feel a lot better to just type it all out and have it out there. Kinda like just screaming as loud as possible into a pillow. It sure felt good. Crazy how life does this type of thing to us to keep us from complacency and total boredom. I burned a small CC last night and walked through the house with it to expel the daemons. I think it worked.

Yep, were going through the same thing. After the Great Washing Machine Flood of 2009 last weekend, we had a big wind and it picked up my glass top table with umbrella in an 80 lb umbrella stand and threw it onto my lawn. The glass shattered all over my deck and the table is now twisted metal. Life goes on. I just keep telling my wife that a month from now we will be joking about this. We're all still alive and safe and thats what really matters. Well, that and your cigars are still safe!!!

By the way, we had H1N1 in July (kids got it form camp, verified). Anyway, the good part is once you get it you can't get it again. Your wife can now ignore all the doom and gloom reports for the most part.
