Wow! What a story Jer! My grandfather was also in the War... got to Normandy (I think) and was immediately taken prisoner. They forced him to march for months straight until it was over.

Haha, is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm personally not a fan of Mitsubishi, I think they make a fine specimen (Lancer Evolutions), but not my cup.

Do you remember along time ago plymouth came out with a car called the plymouth arrow? It was a rebanded mitsubishi. Shame on plymouth.
My dad would never buy anything japanese made. When I was a kid made in Japan, meant something was made cheaply.
I never had the heart to tell my dad, that the zenith vcrs he had, and the emerson radios were stricly japanese. He thought emerson was an american name.

It just goes to show you have to pick who you buy from and what you buy.
Most people want convienence unfortunately, and don't think about how they support countries, organizations or philosphies they would actually detest.
I like your stories Jerry! Keep them up!

Awesome stories. I am a big WWII buff. I love hearing anything about the war and I have the up most respect for those that fought and sacrificed. There are so many side stories that people will never know about. Thanks for sharing!!!

Nah, I don't think I was around for the Arrow. However, nowadays, made in Japan, at least in most areas I can think of is synonymous to well-made lol. Heck, don't get me wrong, I am an upstanding citizen, but most Japanese factories simply have higher standards of quality than us. But my next car will probably be a Ford =D.

I am familiar with those days gone by, where Hondas were... to say it lightly, left much to be desired lol! I still wish my import-cars had been made of high-quality American steel, though. Rust buckets... LOL!

Re: Jerry Story Time!

My ex-fiancee's dad flew Lancasters out of Scotland. More than once, he came back and was the only person left alive on the whole plane. I feel privileged to have known him, even if it was only for a short time. I heard on the radio once that America's WWII vets are dying at a rate of 1000 a day. When I think of how much we owe those brave men and women, it literally brings a lump to my throat.
