Re: Never forget!
What is even more funny is how stupid the media plays this out. One media person said he saw a basket that fell. There was no basked as they showed a clip when they launched the damn thing. Common sense is if he was inside the balloon we would have seen a bulge in the mylar. Also, if he was in the balloon, how much oxygen would you think he had if it was filled with helium?

Re: Never forget!
Seriously the stupidest thing I've seen the media latch on to in a long time. I heard one reporter comment after it was all over that 'this won't be over for awhile' and there'll be 'much more to uncover' and a local reporter here even said 'we tracked down that the father once lived in Burbank (suburb of L.A.)....and I'm disgusted with myself for even watching that long.

Did I say disgusted, I mean proud.
And I remember, I was glued to my desk at work watching the whole thing live baby! |

Re: Never forget!
Just my totally unscientific opinion, but judging by how little Helium loss it took to bring it down, I'm extremely skeptical that it could have lifted off with that kid aboard. It barely had enough lift for its own weight. Assuming he's about average weight for a 6-year-old, 20kg or so, you're going to need roughly 20 m^3 of helium to lift him, which is a cube roughly 9 feet on a side, or almost the size of my living room. I guess it's possible they lost that much volume, but the whole thing is very marginal, at best.

Re: Never forget!
Ha Ha ,,,,I am never shocked by anything the media reports on. On second thought, I may have to say I am shocked if they report the honest truth,,,that would be shocking to me.

Re: Never forget!
When this first hit the news I was surprised at another case of reporting a non-story. Now it's coming out that the whole thing was a planned hoax, and the selfish family tied up the airspace around the Denver Airport for an afternoon, just to extend their already pathetic 15 minutes of fame.
