I can't choose because I did not get the memo and it seems I am currently "out of the loop".

Thanks MaduroLover. Nice job.
Yeah, Im with that, I look for a fourm for a while, and the 1 reason, Ive gone with this one is that there is no pissing conest here. The person should have PMed sutton before anything. Its just, people make mistakes and that was one. Now, with bombs Im not big on the hype post, cuz then there is a bigger chance of blowing the surpirze, I know everyone loves bomb hype threads, and if we do one that is the chance we take. I love this place.

Re: We have an issue...

Shawn has a valid point and has a right to be mad in this case. However there are some instances that I would use the report post button and not bother telling the member who I flagged. Posts that include racist, sexist, or any remarks of bigotry I would report (if a mod hasn't already removed it) and not bother sending the poster a pm. In that case, they don't deserve that respect IMHO.

In Shawn's case, I don't think that he was making any remarks with hatred or bigotry, so I would think that he deserves the respect of receiving a pm and settling it between members before taking it to a mod.

Enjoy the birthday celebration, Shawn, and don't let it get to you.

Re: We have an issue...

Shawn,

Hey Bro, I PMed you back to answer you but I will answer here too. It was not me that reported the post. I actually chuckled when I read it. I started this thing to help take care of a BOTL, I did not dream that it would lead to this. I am not going to stated my opinion here about the person who reported the post ( although I pmed it to you) because I think there is no need to throw any coal on the fire. You sir are more than welcome to post on anything that I put up, I have 100% faith in your abaility to know what to type, and what not to.

Mr. Shawn, I think your post demonstrates exactly why people do not normally "man up" when reporting things that they disagree with -- especially if there is another way to deal with the matter. I also take issue with the implication that the person who reported the post to the Mod is a coward or somehow less than "manly" than he should be (I really doubt that anyone here is concerned with getting a beating over a post report) or that he violated some unwritten rule. You can have your opinion, thats whats great..neither of us are right or wrong..but instead of a mod telling you i don't agree I am telling you that we have a difference of opinion...and it doesn't bother me a bit that we don't agree

When we navigate through this world, we generally cannot control who or how others interact with us. There is a button on the postings for "reporting" posts, I would probably use it if I thought it was necessary -- especially if I did not personally know the person involved. I do not see any particular reason to PM anyone first. You say you do not have a problem with the Mod bringing it up; if so, why should you have any problem at all -- what does it really matter how it was brought to his attention? It matters by principal...thats all..not right or wrong..just prinicpal of someone personally saying "I dont agree"

Frankly, what surprises me is how often that posters on all types of forums say that something does not bother them, but then they will turn right around and write several paragraphs taking someone to task. I am curious to know if you sent a PM to the person you were aggravated with about the copyrighted picture before you mentioned it in your post today?Nope...1)the owner of the photo had already voiced his concern 2) the user had already stated his intentions 3) I had no dog in the fight...if I had pmed him it would of only caused an issue and at the same time I did not report post because he had not done anything wrong.

The one attribute that I really want a forum to have is to support your right to politely express your opinion. Anyone can disagree, but everyone should feel like they can say what is on their mind. Anyway, this is how the "we have an issue" post struck me. Regards, Butch.

So, I think Shawn could have asked that person if it was ok to post that. However, I also agree that it would have been a lot of fun for me to read that post and see my hometown on it. So, I agree with Shawn too. I imagine the person that went to the mod didn't intend to tattle, and my guess is that when Shawn gets back on and checks his PMs, he'll have one waiting.Yeah your kinda right..just not from who you think.

This thread demonstrates that we can discuss this like adults.

Thank you.

I did not and do not expect to hear from whoever flagged me and at this point I am not going to allow it to bother me.

Re: We have an issue...

I would have responded to this sooner but I was tending to my family yesterday evening. In response to the mod who got the complaint and first acted upon it was me. Yes, I did what I thought was right at the time. I did PMed Shawn telling him what was changed. After realizing what I did was wrong I also PMed Shawn telling him what I did was wrong and changed it back. We then had an interesting conversation about things right after. I am not scared to admin that I was wrong by doing so. That was my fault and I did apologize to Shawn. That is what is important.
The reporter of the post is not important as it is my responsibility to act accordingly.

Re: We have an issue...

I'm very impressed by this thread. Its far too easy for things to get out of control on the web, as the vast majority of people don;t know each other personally. This has shown that here at Puff we seem to be above that. With that being said, I do agree with Shawn, and I hope this didn't ruin your day.

Sam,

Like I had said in the previous PMs and in my original post I hope you do not feel as this is towards you. The Mods have a fine line they must walk and they have a job to do. I liken it to the Police officer who has to show up and tell you your dog is too loud or the music in your backyard is to loud or your floodlights are too btight at 11pm..all things that have happened to me and if the neighbor who had the complaint had come over and shown me a lil respect I would of had no issue turning the lights off or the music down..but as the officer in each case said..you aren't breaking the law so all I can do is ask you..

Sam was doing his job and I do not fault him..I actually am glad he did and that he was upstanding enoug to say he was wrong..this could of gone real bad and I could of picked a fight with a Mod and would not be here as a member anymore.

Thank you Sam and the rest of the Forum. IF there isnt anymore additional info and I do not have to apologize for a missunderstanding(which has happened before and I will admit I was wrong or there was a missunderstanding) when I get home tonight I iwll ask a Mod to lock this thread.

Re: We have an issue...

I am so thankful that I logged in today, and found this thread before it got locked.
As much as I would like to pm ssutton210 and privately and shamefully apologize in private, I cannot, knowing how many people my lapse in judgment has affected
I am actually shaking after I’ve read this entire thread.

Just so it is clear, I didn’t use the report post button, as there was nothing to report. I pmd a question to 2 mods, with what (at the time) I considered a benign query. I was advised by 1 mod that nothing could be done, as no rules were broken, and no post could be altered without posters permission, and suggested I simply ask the poster directly. At that point I realized my question was pointless in the first place, not worth bothering with further, thanked them for their time and went about my day.
I should have pmd the 2nd mod to advise to ignore my pointless request, but I did not.
All of this is my fault. A momentary thought of “aw, the surprise is spoiled”, has hurt so many people in a snowball affect beyond what my mind, at the time, could have ever expected.
The thought behind the bomb/pif was really the whole point, not the surprise affect. I lost that perspective, and ruined the spirit of the gesture for everyone, even if only momentarily.

I was wrong.
I apologize to ssutton219 for not realizing how changing his post without talking to him directly would make him feel. I did not think it through, and would certainly feel the same if the circumstances were turned.
I apologize to the mods for putting them in this position.
I apologize to teedles915 for ruining his wonderful bomb for a dear BOTL, and making the day of arrival have such a sad and hurtful overtone.
I apologize to Charlie for tainting such a joyful day, when so many people worked so hard to bring some sunshine into your life.
Lastly I apologize to all Puff members for my mistake.

Sincerely,
Kerri

Re: We have an issue...

Kerri,

Wow...not what I had expected but I want to say I can completely see where this misscommuncation has caused this. I too am sorry if you felt as if I was out for blood or on a witch hunt. I only wanted to know why my post was flagged and the case being it wasnt and a missunderstanding.

I can also admit when I am wrong and I can also see where my feelings took over and let my mind have a rest.

Mods please lock this up as its run its full course.
