We have an issue...

Today has not been a good day for me.

I do not put up with stupidity very well and after dealing with 5 kids for a week with their mother in Orlando, the airline losing my wife's luggage once again and giving me the run around I was ready for a good week.

I love this place, I hate when others are upset at the way this place is run or how things are going.

I take offense when people are screwed over and I was really aggravated about someone using a picture of an established member,who would of given permission, and then say there was no copyright...but it wasn't his picture and all he had to say was "this isn't my picture"....but I digress

....I am part of a group trying to brighten a fellow brothers day because life has thrown him curves and we wanted him to know we are a "Family" here and hope life gets better.

So I posted up in the thread a GENERAL LOCATION of where the gift was being sent....I did not put his address in there anywhere and I posted the DC so if the BoTL wised up he could track it..because its fun to watch incoming and know its headed to your door.


But I got a PM from a Mod informing me that there were a/some complaints and he modified my post...well...this is the 1st time in the 2+ years I have been here that I have had a post modified by the Mods...I HAVE NO ISSUE WITH THE MODS DOING THEIR JOB..He did what he thought at the time was right and actually as pissed as I am I am glad to a point he did...because if he didn't there would be a post saying how the mods ignore pms..so...

But after the mod discussed this post he changed it back because I did not break any Puff rules.

This is not why I am pissed....I am pissed that the person or persons could not be man or woman enough to pm me and let me know they had a problem with what I posted.

I am an asshole..there is a real reason my kids call me the "Grumpy Ole Troll"...I don't play nice for the most part...but when it comes to my words...they are mine..if you have issue you need to man up and tell me...not flag it and pass the buck to the mods.

I have been here through the good and bad and have seen people come and go..not all people are going to get along but this is the only forum I belong to that I do not have personal issues with anyone...there are people out there I do not like..but not here. The mods are great and the members are some of the best..but this just sets me off.


Take offense..I don't care..think I am an ass...join the rest of the group...but if you don't like what I say..own up and tell me.


If the person/people who had issue want to own up..pm me.

Today is my daughters b-day so the pizza is here and Transformers will be on the DVD Player..I will not be on for a while...say what you will or don't.

Wow Shawn first I just wanna say that really sucks man. It is pretty low to tattle on you instead of just saying it to your "face". I know the post you're talking about & I didn't think it was a big deal at all, dunno why some people did. I doubt the member in question has any idea what's going on anyway. I took it as being IN GOOD FUN.

I would also like to add that this place is awesome & has some of the finest individuals anywhere, as well as fantastic mods. I'm really sorry that this was made to be a big deal, it shouldn't have been. It's always fun helping out a BOTL/SOTL, & fun it should stay.

P.S. I don't think you're a total ass......

I understand. I really really like this place it is ten thousand times better than a particular set of automotive forums i belonged to in the past where similiar things arose daily.. Everyone is so nice. But in the grand scheme of things, It your Daughters birthday. Spend time with the one of the most important people in your life and just well enjoy it. This "issue" doesn't even equate. Happy Birthday to your daughter from all of us, Enjoy your family time!!! It can't rain all the time bro...

I know I'm probably going to regret this, but here goes. Mr. Shawn, I think your post demonstrates exactly why people do not normally "man up" when reporting things that they disagree with -- especially if there is another way to deal with the matter. I also take issue with the implication that the person who reported the post to the Mod is a coward or somehow less than "manly" than he should be (I really doubt that anyone here is concerned with getting a beating over a post report) or that he violated some unwritten rule.

When we navigate through this world, we generally cannot control who or how others interact with us. There is a button on the postings for "reporting" posts, I would probably use it if I thought it was necessary -- especially if I did not personally know the person involved. I do not see any particular reason to PM anyone first. You say you do not have a problem with the Mod bringing it up; if so, why should you have any problem at all -- what does it really matter how it was brought to his attention?

Frankly, what surprises me is how often that posters on all types of forums say that something does not bother them, but then they will turn right around and write several paragraphs taking someone to task. I am curious to know if you sent a PM to the person you were aggravated with about the copyrighted picture before you mentioned it in your post today?

The one attribute that I really want a forum to have is to support your right to politely express your opinion. Anyone can disagree, but everyone should feel like they can say what is on their mind. Anyway, this is how the "we have an issue" post struck me. Regards, Butch.

I have to agree with what Shawn is trying to get across. This is a place for gentlemen and ladies and that is supposed to mean something. This isn't supposed to be second grade where when somebody has or takes issue with something then at least for cripes sake PM that person and see if there is something that can be at least talked out. Yes, there is a "button" on here to report a post and I believe that is there for something that is totally out of the realm of what is allowed on here. The Mods can't be everywhere patrolling each and every post.

Maybe if Shawn had a better day and the lost luggage wasn't lost or wasn't chasing 5 kids around the place ( you have my sympathy by the way,,,I had my hands full with 2 but I digress ) the fact of the matter is,,,is we have an expectation on here that members try and resolve things between ourselves before we hit the "panic" button and then get things even more twisted. There are forums out there that think people should go ahead and put their soap operas out there in the middle of the forums threads and start drama. I think we are bigger than that,,,I think we can go to that person and PM them with our concerns about something before we let our common sense get away from us.

I don't think Shawn is even close to being an ass as I have seen how he conducts himself on here and he has always been a straight shooter and upright brother.

Hope you have been able to put this behind you and enjoy the day with your daughter as that is what is more important.

Not trying to "add fuel to the fire". I agree with Sutton, as well. It would be nice to think that someone would try to get their issues addressed with the source, rather than pushing the "thread police" button. But, if they choose to do it behind closed doors, then so be it. That's the downside of the internet. Its so much easier to be the anonymous tattle-tale than to identify yourself and state your opinion.

I saw the post before it got deleted and I was surprised as I knew the person that put the bomb together wanted it to be kept secret. So, I think Shawn could have asked that person if it was ok to post that. However, I also agree that it would have been a lot of fun for me to read that post and see my hometown on it. So, I agree with Shawn too. I imagine the person that went to the mod didn't intend to tattle, and my guess is that when Shawn gets back on and checks his PMs, he'll have one waiting.

The nice thing about this forum is that everyone seems to be real gentlemen and ladies and that they truly care about others. On any other forum, this thread would have devolved into a flame war.

I am going to leave this thread open at this time as I think it may help us all to understand what we expect from each other.

if it turns ugly and names start flying it will be closed immediately. I hve no problems with anyone expressing themselves as long as it is done in a respectful manner.

Of course one of the other mods may decide to close it if they disagree with my assessment.

Not THAT is a great job at moderating. Thanks for letting folks get their (polite) opinions out. I agree with the BOTL above when he said that, on other boards, this would have turned into a flame war. This seems to be an intelligent, considerate group. I think that's why the way the issue with Sutton was handled surprised me.
