What bike do you ride?

Ok..given that there's all this interest in bikes and when I'm talking about bikes, I mean motorcycles, maybe we can talk about the types of motorcycles you ride and why. I don't ride anymore but it's clear that a lot of folks such as Illuminatus is "hot" about their bikes..yes, there's all the concern for safety but what bikes have you ridden? Do you own one now and what is it?

As for me, I bought my first motorcycle at age 15 when I got my learners permit..no helmet (shame, shame). It was a honda 90, right after the honda 50's came out. Moved up to a honda 125, then the 250 scrambler. After that it was the honda 305, then to the honda 4 cylinder 750 that my brother and I bought new in 1972. In 1983, I bought at a police auction, a 1982 HD FLHTC...that's a full dress Harley with 100K on it. A shovelhead engine that leaked oil all over the place. Rode everywhere with it. It had a look and a sound that just turned heads. I'd pick up my teenage daughter from her parties and dances, and all her friends would just marvel. There's nothing like riding on a country road, not speeding, but just feeling the wind, the scenery with a bike that just roared with that V-twin sound.

Still got both the Harley and the Honda 4. Both down. I think they're both collector items. Haven't ridden since 1990...what about you? What do you ride or rode and why?

Re: What bike do you ride?

I've got an HD '05 1200C. Just got some apes for it too that I can't wait to put on. I got it for a few reasons: 1. I always wanted a Harley, 2. It was the Harley I could afford, 3. save on gas, 4. now that I've got it, I'm planning on keeping it forever. I love this bike.

Why do I ride? Why don't you?

One of these in a barn ... I need to bring it home and make it a project. Ran great before being mothballed.

Nice bikes, love the sportster! I rode my bros for a couple of years before I got the shovelhead..not great on highways or long distances, just felt underpowered...

What do those babies cost now? Yeah, for a Harley, I'm sure it's much more affordable than the larger bikes...

Not to start another debate, but for the same money, you could get something bigger with a Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Star...

Yep, I'm sure the Japanese and German bikes are an incredible ride, but there's something about a Harley that just makes it different
