I've gone through similiar stuff with my oldest child. Be aware that it is very important to have you child classified as disabled. One he has that classification he will qualify for all kind of stuff un the act that Vic mentioned "Americans with disabilities". If you would prefer to home school or private school your child you can force them to pay for that as well as long as you can prove that they cannot provide a "free an appropriate" education. In New Jersey there are some lawyers who specialize in this, I don't know if they take out of state cases, but if you contiinue to have problems and want the name of the attorney I've used pm me. They are not cheap, but they make things happen.

Keep after them and don't sign anything (like and IEP) without having a lawyer review it.

Well wouldn't you know it. I make a call to my attorney this morning. He says he will call and see what the hold up is. That was about 9 am this morning. Around noon, we get a call from the man in charge of the program and soon after ,get a call from someone else in the school system. Their excuse was they have just been so busy, that they had planned on calling us back today.

I think they just wanted us to homeschool or private school him, and were just trying to see if we were going to push the issue. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when my Attorney called them this morning. He peobably faxed them a nice letter too.

Now, I am not sure what my attorney said , but you wouldn't believe how nice and friendly and willing to help they have become. Now they School system and the DSS are arguing over who is going to supply the nursing. Chit gets done when an attorney puts his head in the battle.

Congrats, I am a teacher and I know they can be a pain in the ass. Especially when you are promised a 7% raise and then they come back and tell you that it will be only a 3%. They really know how to screw everyone over.

Schools and Education Systems in general can be a pain in the a$$ to deal with. My mom works for one....to hear the stories.
